In a stunning about-face, outspoken Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert has apologized to offended Muslims for an off-color joke about Muslim Rep. Ilhan Omar that she’d made at a recent private Thanksgiving break event with her supporters.

“I apologize to anyone in the Muslim community I offended with my comment about Rep. Omar. I have reached out to her office to speak with her directly. There are plenty of policy differences to focus on without this unnecessary distraction,” she tweeted Friday afternoon, suggesting she may be interested in apologizing to Omar as well.

The stunning capitulation came exactly a day after a far-left activist affiliated with the propaganda group Meidas Touch published a video to Twitter of Boebert at the event with her supporters making a joke about Omar being a terrorist.

“So the other night on the House floor was not my first jihad squad moment. So I was getting into an elevator with one of my staffers. And he and I are leaving the Capitol. We’re going back to my office. And we get in the elevator, and I see a Capitol Police officer running hurriedly to the elevator,” said Boebert.

“I see fret all over his face, and he’s reaching… The door’s shutting. Like, I can’t open it. Like, what’s happening? I look to my left, and there she is: Ilhan Omar. I said, ‘Well, she doesn’t have a backpack — we should be fine,'” the congresswoman continued.

She added that unlike on Twitter, Omar is meek and doesn’t make eye contact in person.

Listen:

The joke was presumably based on Omar’s extensive history of siding with, defending and literally spending time with terrorists.

The video shared by the left-wing activist “PatriotTakes” quickly went viral, triggering widespread backlash from not only Omar’s supporters but also her allies in the establishment press.

Case in point:

She herself responded by calling Boebert a “buffoon,” claiming the story was made-up and alleging that the Colorado congresswoman is the one who acts meek.

She also demanded that the congresswoman be held accountable by congressional leaders over her joke. Note that this demand for accountability came only days after Democrats voted to strip Arizona Rep. Paul Gosar of his committee assignments because of an offensive but ultimately harmless cartoon.

It appears as if the Democrat Party’s current focus is on condemning and silencing offensive speech, and not on, say, inflation, gas prices, supply chain issues, etc.

Look at Omar’s response below:

Boebert responded with her apology the morning after.

Look:

Following the apology, she quickly returned to tweeting about issues that matter, including spiking inflation, spiking gas prices and endless supply chain shortages.

While she was quick to apologize, which was unusual for her given her outspoken nature, an army of conservatives were not so eager to play nice.

Indeed, these conservatives rushed at the opportunity to slam Omar and her defenders, with some rightly noting that Omar does have links to terrorism and does have a history of speaking derogatorily about Jews, and others pointing out that far more obscene remarks are made about conservatives on a near-daily basis.
