The raid on Rep. Ilhan Omar’s house is already being turned into a fundraiser for her campaign.
According to the Daily Mail, the Minnesota lawmaker is using the moment to grab some quick cash after Homeland Security descended upon her home on Columbus Day. The pre-dawn raid comes as the Department of Justice carries out an investigation into Omar, though it appears that she is not going down without a fight.

“We have been warning that Trump has been targeting Ilhan since he first got back into office, calling her ‘garbage’, targeting her district with ICE, and constantly making racist attacks on her and all Somali-Americans,” it reads. “Trump’s administration then claimed to be conducting an investigation into Ilhan’s immigration status, a claim they’ve made for months now, but this is a serious escalation by this fascist government.”
“We all know that Ilhan Omar is a proud American citizen who came to this country legally as a young refugee. But today’s raid did not happen because of Ilhan’s immigration paperwork,” it continues. “Make no mistake – this raid happened just weeks before the midterm elections in an attempt to intimidate, silence, and punish Ilhan Omar and our entire progressive movement that seeks to take power back from Trump and MAGA on November 3rd.”
“We have an obligation to fight back against this ludicrous, partisan investigation, and show that we will not let Trump’s abuse of power go unchecked. We have to organize for a massive progressive victory at the ballot box so we can take back Congress from the MAGA far-right.”
Beneath this is a plea for donations, noting that the “average donation” is around $25, with most people “giving less” and “some” giving more.
President Donald Trump rejected the claim that he has been using the DOJ to target Omar, telling reporters that he has long considered her to be “totally crooked personally.” He has also accused the lawmaker of marrying her own brother in an attempt to obtain United States citizenship, which she has denied in the past.
“Omar’s campaign has raised $5.83 million for the 2026 election cycle, according to Federal Election Commission records from January 1, 2025, through July 22,” the Daily Mail reported.
In an X post, Omar responded to the raid by vowing that she wouldn’t be silenced.
I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation.
