Democratic strategist James Carville joined Newsmax to bash President Donald Trump as the most corrupt leader ever.
He has been appearing on several cable news programs as the midterms approach, spreading his pro-Democrat message and explaining why he thinks the party has a good shot at taking over Congress in November. He also couldn’t help but insult the Trump administration during his The Record segment with host Greta Van Susteren.
Watch:
“‘It’s the economy, stupid.’ Is that what this race is about this year?” Van Susteren asked.
“Well, it is, but it’s a lot about corruption. We shouldn’t forget that in 1992, the one thing you knew about President George H.W. Bush, he was not corrupt. This is far and away – not the most corrupt administration ever – probably more corrupt than all other administrations that came before it put together,” Carville said. “So, I think the corruption issue is hurting the economic issue. And I think both of them are hurting the Republicans’ chances.”
“I think though, you might get a lot of pushback from Republicans on that when they point to the lawfare when President Trump was just getting ready to run for his second term, and all of a sudden he gets indicted. Every time he turns around, he’s getting indicted. Now you’ve got a Democratic congresswoman. I don’t know why her house was searched over the weekend, but it was signed by a judge, and we’ll find out sooner or later, but I mean it’s like, corruption gets slung around by both sides,” Van Susteren objected. “There’s way too much money in politics.”
“There’s so much money in politics, and you’re right, the deficit was caused by both sides; only one side is about 75% worth it,” Carville responded. “We have a $2T deficit this year alone. When Bill Clinton left office at the 20th century, we had a balanced budget. In this century, we’ve accumulated, I don’t know how many hundred trillion dollars in debt. In this year, in 2026, the federal government is adding $2T in debt. And what do we get for it? Nothing! More corruption!”
Van Susteren pointed out that Democrats had just as much time as Republicans to figure out how to handle the debt problem since Clinton’s departure from the White House and have not been able to do so, before the pair moved on to other pressing subjects like Iran and controversial candidates.
