As most American eyes were riveted to any new reports on the demise of the missing OceanGate submarine, the House Ways and Means Committee held on Thursday a bombshell press conference, citing the testimony from two IRS whistleblowers who stated that the Justice Department, FBI, and IRS interfered with the Hunter Biden tax evasion investigation.
According to Committee Chairman Jason Smith (R-Mo.), during the hours of transcribed interviews, the two whistleblowers exposed that “Hunter received money from Ukraine, China, and Romania.”
“Their story of how the federal government handled an investigation into a ‘high-profile individual’ is stunning,” he stated in a lengthy Twitter thread.

The news comes just days after the first son took a “sweetheart deal,” resulting in guilty pleas to two misdemeanor counts and a gun charge that will ultimately be dismissed. Naturally, no jail time is involved.
“All taxpayers are NOT treated the same,” Smith wrote. “Biden DOJ engaged in attempts to delay, divulge, and deny IRS investigators. Whistleblowers faced retaliation for telling the truth.”

Smith began the explosive press conference with confirmation of the whistleblower testimony.
“I can now confirm that we have credible whistleblower testimony alleging misconduct and government abuse that is resulting in preferential treatment for the president’s son Hunter Biden,” he said before diving into “three areas of focus in the transcripts.”
“Number One,” he told reporters, “the federal government is not treating taxpayers equally when enforcing tax laws. Number Two, whistleblowers claim the Biden Department of Justice is intervening and overstepping when it comes to the investigation of the president’s son. And, Number Three, these whistleblowers report they have faced almost immediate retaliation.”

Whistleblowers describe how the Biden Justice Department intervened and overstepped in a campaign to protect the son of Joe Biden by delaying, divulging, and denying an ongoing investigation into Hunter Biden’s alleged tax crimes,” he explained.
Identified in the testimony as one of the whistleblowers is IRS Criminal Supervisory Special Agent Gary Shapley Jr., who said, “Some of the decisions seem to be influenced by politics.”
“Whatever the motivations, at every stage decisions were made that had the effect of benefiting the subject of the investigation,” Shapley said.
“These decisions included slow-walking investigative steps, now allowing enforcement actions to be executed, limiting investigators’ line of questioning for witnesses, misleading investigators on charging authority, delaying any and all actions months before elections to ensure the investigation did not go over well before policy memorandum mandated the pause,” Shapely testified. “These are just only a few examples.”
Perhaps the most shocking revelation from Shapely, who oversaw the IRS probe into Hunter Biden, is a WhatsApp message dated July 30th, 2017, and obtained by the IRS.
According to Smith, “well before the 2020 election, the 2 whistleblowers & their investigative team had a call with the IRS chain of command to call out the slow pace of the investigation.”
“Their warnings fell on deaf ears,” the committee chair continued. “In August 2020, a search warrant uncovered a text between Hunter and Henry Zhao, an executive at a Chinese company that paid Hunter $100,000.”
“The text mentioned Joe Biden repeatedly,” he stated. “Investigators were not allowed to verify the information”

“I am sitting here with my father and we would like to understand why the commitment made has not been fulfilled,” Hunter wrote. “Tell the director that I would like to resolve this now before it gets out of hand, and now means tonight.”
“And, Z, if I get a call or text from anyone involved in this other than you, Zhang, or the chairman, I will make certain that between the man sitting next to me and every person he knows and my ability to forever hold a grudge that you will regret not following my direction,” the first son added. “I am sitting here waiting for the call with my father.”
“Communications like these made it clear we needed to search the guest house at the Bidens’ Delaware residence where Hunter Biden stayed for a time,” Shapely said, according to the interview transcript. “In a September 3rd, 2023 [2020], pros meeting, the Assistant United States Attorney, Lesley Wolf, told us there was more than enough probable cause for the physical search warrant there, but the question was whether the juice was worth the squeeze.”
Wolf “continued that optics were a driving factor in the decision on whether to 15 execute a search warrant,” according to Shapely. “She said a lot of evidence in our investigation would be found in the guest house of former Vice President Biden, but said there is no way we will get that approved.”
“Again, DOJ denied investigators’ request to question Hunter’s adult children, who were suspected to have relevant information because: ‘It will get us into hot water if we interview the President’s grandchildren,'” Smith said on Twitter.

Smith also provided information on the infamous “laptop from hell.”
“In 2019, an IRS criminal investigation search warrant led to discovery of Hunter Biden’s laptop,” he tweeted. “FBI verified authenticity. IRS investigators never got full access, despite believing it may contain relevant evidence.”
“Investigators wanted to question Hunter’s associates, including about an e-mail referencing ‘Ten held by H for the big guy,'” Smith continued. “An Assistant U.S. Attorney stated she did not want to ask questions about the big guy or ‘dad’ – despite multiple objections.”

In response to the damning revelations, Fox News Digital reports, the Justice Department issued the following statement: “As both the Attorney General and U.S. Attorney David Weiss have said, U.S. Attorney Weiss has full authority over this matter, including responsibility for deciding where, when, and whether to file charges as he deems appropriate. He needs no further approval to do so. Questions about his investigation should be directed to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for Delaware.”
In other news, a tuxedo-clad Hunter Biden was seen rubbing elbows with dignitaries on Thursday, courtesy of a White House invitation to the state dinner with India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
