Thanksgiving dinners are supposed to be a time when families come together, put aside the world, and focus on togetherness. A time when differences melt away, hearts are light and stomachs are full. Unless you’re White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain, that is.
Wednesday morning as families were making sure they had all the trimmings for the next day’s big meal, Klain tweeted out a graphic of Democrat talking points to shut down “that Uncle” at Thanksgiving. Because that’s what the holiday is about, making sure you one-up your conservative family members and create awkward tension for the rest of the family.
“One last item for your Thanksgiving dinner: some talking points when “that Uncle” comes “at you” about [President Joe Biden],” he tweeted.

Some of the absolute gems included in these talking points are:
- Gas prices are down by $1.35/gallon since June and inflation is moderating
- Tackling junk fees that cost Americans billions, like surprise overdraft charges
- Removing all lead pipes, ensures clean drinking water in all communities
- Removing firearms from dangerous individuals
- Rallied the world in defense of Ukraine, in the face of Putin’s aggression
- And NO taxes on people making above $400k – he kept his promise
It ends with all of the “EXTREME” things Republicans have done, including “planning to put Medicare and Social Security on the chopping block.” Perhaps Klain did not read that it’s the Inflation Reduction Act that will have a negative impact on Medicare benefits.
“We estimate that beginning in 2025, plan subsidies—specifically, the reinsurance subsidies for the beneficiaries with the most drug spending—will be cut $30 billion…With $30 billion less to finance prescription benefits, something will have to give,” reads a Wall Street Journal op-ed by Casey B. Mulligan and Tomas J. Philipson, two University of Chicago economists who studied the effects Biden’s legislation will have on the Medicare system.

Twitter was not impressed with Klain’s attempt to turn Thanksgiving into a showdown at a time when political tensions are high and most people are in desperate need of a break:
Is your home really this unhappy? To argue with each other on the most family of holidays? Eat food. Be kind. Go for a walk.

When you have political talking points for Thanksgiving dinner, you should start seriously questioning your life choices.

He won’t “come at you” because the only person who “comes at you” at Thanksgiving is your obnoxious zoomer cousin who will occasionally look up from their iPhone to tell you how bad capitalism is.

Thank you so very much for presenting the lies, untruths, and deceptions in such great written detail. This will be a very handy document.

Bribed voters by depleting the SPR, exporting the oil to create the temporary illusion of not being in a recession, while also creating an illegal vote buying scheme w/ college grads. Also created the worst inflation crisis in a century!
