It was a top GOP official that tried to bribe Kari Lake, leaked audio shows

Irrefutable evidence has emerged that the chair of the Arizona Republican Party tried last March to bribe Senate candidate Kari Lake to drop out of the race.

The evidence includes an audio recording of Arizona Republican Party chair Jeff DeWit, 51, pressuring Lake to drop out.

Listen:

“There are very powerful people that want to keep you out, but they’re willing to put their money where their mouth is in a big way,” DeWit says in the clip above. “This conversation never happened.”

“This is crazy, though,” Lake replies. “They should want me. I’m a great candidate. People love me. These people are corrupt.”

DeWit then says it’s “fine” that she doesn’t want to drop out but warns her against talking to anybody about their conversation.

He continues by admitting that the people he’s working for/speaking on behalf of want Lake to stay out of politics for two whole years.

“So the ask I got today from back East was ‘is there any companies out there, something that could just put her on the payroll to keep her out?'” he says, recalling his conversation with his handlers.

Lake responds by accusing his handlers of trying to prevent former President Donald Trump from winning the GOP presidential primary election.

“This is about defeating Trump, and I think that’s a bad, bad thing for our country,” she says. “DeSantis is not America First. This is about the final deathblow to Trump, and I don’t think that’s good for our country. ”

“It’s not, but at the same time, I’m not even sure Trump can win,” DeWit responds. “I don’t know that he can win. I think what it really comes down to a lot of people, it’s not about like control or agenda, it’s about the ability to raise money to win.”

“All these consultants don’t want their payday to end, and I don’t want to make a deal with these kinds of people,” Lake replies. “This is a hill worth dying on.”

“If they’re going to steal the election to make me and our movement go away, I’m not letting them do that. I owe it to the people of Arizona to carry their torch and their voice,” she replies.

The audio footage has since gone viral, prompting with it a call from Lake for DeWit to take a hike.

“He’s gotta resign. We can’t have somebody who is corrupt and compromised running the Republican Party,” she told an NBC News reporter during Trump’s New Hampshire primary victory party.

“I want corruption rooted out of our government. I don’t care if it’s on the Democrat side or the Republican side,” she added.

“We are going to root our corruption, and that’s why the people love this man that’s about to take the stage. Because he can’t be corrupted, he can’t be blackmailed, he can’t be bribed, and he’s going to root out the corruption in the swamp and give the government back to we the people,” she continued.

Listen:

Meanwhile, others have also begun calling for DeWit’s ouster.

“If this is, in fact, true, I’m asking AZGOP Chairman Jeff DeWit to resign,” Maricopa County Republican Committee chair Craig Berland said in a statement.

Pressure for DeWit to resign is also coming from the public.
