Jack in the Box drive-thru worker on video shooting at family in beef over curly fries

Taking customer service to depths hard to imagine, a Jack in the Box employee opened fire on a drive-thru patron over an order of curly fries.

Aggression in American society is nothing new these days, but it usually involves the stress of air travel. But fast food joints see their fair share of violent drama as well, though not to the level that played out in Houston, Texas.

Turns out, the video is from March 2021, but law enforcement just released the surveillance video capturing what proved to be a 9-minute dispute over a missing order of curly fries. The clip below captures the moment the employee, Alloniea Ford, produced a firearm:

The customer, Anthony Ramos, is from Florida and was working in Houston after the 2021 freeze. He had just picked up his pregnant wife and 6-year-old daughter from the airport — they were in the truck when Ford opened fire.

Ramos complained of a missing order of fries and was denied when he asked for it. The dispute went on and on, and Ford was seen at one point pulling a pistol out of her pocket before putting it back. As things escalated, Ford could be seen throwing ketchup packages at Ramos, who began throwing items back at her.

Ford then stepped away from the drive-thru window to retrieve the gun from her pocket a second time. Another employee tried to de-escalate the raging conflict but Ford was not to be deterred, opening the window and firing at the vehicle as Ramos sped off.

No one was injured in the incident, but Ford was convicted of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to Fox 26. She just concluded her probation in June 2023.

As might be expected, Ramos’ family has filed a lawsuit against Jack in the Box.

“Jack-In-The-Box needs to do background check on employees so as not to expose their customers to someone who would attempt to kill them,” the family’s lawyer Randall L. Kallinen said, according to the Fox affiliate. “These rage cases are getting out of hand in Houston.”
