Jacksonville Jaguars star Travis Hunter reacted to a reporter asking him why he got baptized before a game.
While the National Football League (NFL) is often associated with “woke” initiatives and messaging, Hunter’s decision to get baptized and his subsequent statement do much to restore faith in the organization’s players. It shows that maybe the opinions of the corporate leaders don’t necessarily reflect those of the people making the plays.

“It’s a crazy question. Why did I get baptized? It’s Sunday, it’s God’s day, and I’ve been planning to get baptized for a minute.”

“Did you get baptized this morning?” the reporter asked.
“Yes,” Hunter answered.
“Why did you do that?” the reporter pressed.
“It’s a crazy question. Why did I get baptized?” the player chuckled.
“Yes, why did you choose to go to the church this morning,” she probed further.
“It’s Sunday, it’s God’s day, and I’ve been planning to get baptized for a minute. I want to change my life, I want to become a better man,” he revealed.
“What does it mean to you?” another voice can be heard asking.
“It means a lot, you know, becoming a better man, leaving my old flesh and just becoming the new Travis.”

Good on him, that’s wonderful. We’d have such a better world if every man wished to become a better man.
