Democrat strategist James Carville went full Monday morning quarterback on former President Joe Biden’s administration, and it wasn’t pretty.
Republicans have been calling out the numerous policy failures from the left, but there’s nothing quite like hearing it from one of your own. Carville zeroed in on Biden’s decision to listen to the “idiot left” when it came to border security, resulting in immigration being one of the most important issues voters considered in the 2024 election.
Watch:
Carville joined NewsNation host Chris Cuomo on Monday to call out Biden’s weakness.
“So the lesson has been learned by some Democrats about how much immigration means in this country and what the interests of the American people are on it, but I don’t feel like the message is everywhere in terms of how they are responding to [President Donald] Trump’s early actions on it. What is your suggestion for what Democrats should be doing about immigration in this country?” the host asked.
“It was a problem because President Biden listened to the idiot left and didn’t enforce the border. By the time that he left office, it was a manageable situation down there. So there was a lot different … three years ago than what happened when President Trump took office. Criminality of all kind should be dealt with and dealt with harshly,” the strategist said. “And if there’s anybody in this country illegally that is a criminal, they’ve got to be sent back where it came from pronto. Just like anybody that’s legally in this country is a criminal. And you need to be tried and convicted and sent to jail pronto. So I’m not going to defend that.”
But while he had some criticism for Biden, Carville is still a Democrat at the end of the day. He went on to slam Trump about his promise to bring down grocery prices, noting that egg prices specifically are still sky-high.
“But, Chris, remember the number one promise that Trump made, which he was going to do something about high grocery prices, specifically eggs. Before he took office, he said, well, I can’t do anything about it. Well, thank you for telling us,” he snarked. “And I was very encouraged to see some Democratic members of Congress put out a thing today saying, well, what’s happened here? And of course, the price of eggs are going up, maybe because of bird flu or something, but the truth of the matter is, that’s not what he said in the election. So he says Greenland, Panama Canal, Canada, the you know, the Gulf of America or whatever insane stuff he says, and we shouldn’t get distracted by that. Your number one thing was you were going to do something about high grocery prices. You’ve got nothing if done up since you’ve taken office.”
As BizPac Review previously reported, avian flu and Biden’s order to slaughter “100 million chickens” dumped fuel on the fire of soaring egg prices. It’s unclear what Carville expects Trump to do about that.
