‘Jeopardy’ fans unload on ‘arrogant’ trash-talking contestant: ‘Avi is a jerk’

A Jeopardy contestant drew plenty of attention for his seemingly cocky attitude toward the other competitors during Tuesday night’s episode.

The contestant, Avi Gupta, was matched up against Jack Izzo and Alison Purcell — the competitors were previously featured in a 2019 episode of the popular game show, which was won by Gupta.

Mayim Bialik hosted what was billed as the Teen Tournament Reunion and Gupta was trailing when he landed on a Daily Double with $7,400 on the board, compared to $16,000 for Izzo and $10,400 for Purcell.

Putting all his earnings on the line, Gupta raised his total to $14,800 when he correctly solved the clue which read, “This strong, lightweight metal was named for the dozen children of Gaia & Uranus.”

“Not gonna get rid of me that easy,” Gupta then said to Izzo, to which his opponent replied, “Well done.”

Gupta would eventually win the tournament and the $100,000 purse, with the deciding moment seen below:

However, he did not appear to win over many social media users, who took to Twitter to voice their dissatisfaction with his behavior:
