Jim Acosta says Trump’s Kennedy Center name removal is like the fall of the Berlin Wall

Jim Acosta set himself up for a wave of mockery after over-dramatizing President Donald Trump’s name being removed from the facade of the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

The former CNN talking head was on the scene as crews began to take Trump’s name off the front of the building, ridiculously likening the moment to the fall of the Berlin Wall. The change came in compliance with a federal court that ruled the Kennedy Center’s board, which is chaired by Trump, had acted unlawfully when adding the president’s name to the iconic building.

“Congress gave the Kennedy Center its name,” US district judge Christopher Cooper wrote in his 94-page opinion, “and only Congress can change it.”

Acosta was on hand to witness the building change and delivered his dramatic take in a livestream video.

“This is very much like watching the Berlin Wall coming down,” he said, calling Trump a “petulant manchild.”

“It is a sign that mankind, humankind can stand up against tyranny.” Acosta continued.

His reaction sparked a flood of jeers from critics on social media who called him out for being a drama queen and also blasted him as a “disgrace” for insulting the memory of those who fought and died attempting freedom from the barrier built by East Germany.
