Joe Rogan suggested a “f*cking hilarious” move by President Donald Trump that would level his critics and save California in the process.
The host of The Joe Rogan Experience laughed along with guests, political commentator Konstantin Kasin and British comedian Francis Foster, during Wednesday’s podcast at the prospect of Trump becoming governor of the Golden State.
Trump and California Gov. Gavin Newsom are both term-limited and will be exiting office at the end of their respective terms. While Trump has joked about running for a third term as president, speculation continues about Newsom’s plans to run for the office in 2028.

Rogan’s idea of Trump stepping in to run California came as he spoke with his guests about a friend who was “fleeing L.A.,” saying he “can’t do it anymore.”
“Everybody went crazy,” said the Ultimate Fighting Championship commentator who, himself, fled California and moved to Texas.
“It’s like there’s something that happened because of the pandemic and the Black Lives Matter protests and the riots and all the chaos. It just changed. Like whatever the temperature of society was, is like it hit societal global warming, where it’s like it’s time to investigate Greenland. It’s time to move north, like, this is a bad climate now, this sucks!” he continued.
“You get out of the airport at LAX, you feel that LA sun on your skin, and you just go, this is paradise,” Kasin interjected. “And then you walk out and you see this, it’s paradise. And they f*cked it up so bad that people will literally pack up and leave paradise.”
“What Donald Trump should do is, when he leaves the office, is run for the governor of California!” Rogan suggested.
“Just take over California and fix it. It would be hilarious if he did. It would be one of the funniest things of all time if an 82-year-old man steps into the office of the governor of California,” he added, laughing at the idea.
“We’re going to fix everything. You’ve got a problem with water, I know how to get the water!” he said, doing an impression of Trump.
“It would be f*cking hilarious,” Rogan laughed.
He recounted how “moderate” California used to be when he moved there.
“It wasn’t always that nuts. And when you went back to when I went there in the 1990s, it was much more moderate politically,” he noted.
“Like, you know, people were definitely left-leaning, but it wasn’t a focus. It wasn’t a thing that was discussed all the time,” he recalled. “Something happened around the Obama administration. Something happened specifically around his second term that really changed everything.”
