John Bolton’s big announcement overrun with Twitter mockery

Former National Security Advisor John Bolton has officially announced his intent to run for the presidency in 2024.

Despite serving under former President Donald Trump, Bolton took to the airwaves in December 2022 to warn Republicans that he would jump into the race if nobody he deemed fit announced their run. One month later, on the second anniversary of the January 6 riot at the Capitol, Bolton made good on that promise.

In an interview with “Good Morning Britain,” Bolton laid out a portion of his platform that he says will focus “primarily” on the foreign interests of the United States.

“I would get in to win the nomination and I would do it primarily on the basis that we need a much stronger foreign policy,” explained Bolton, who has been dubbed a “warhawk” by his critics. “I think it’s important that it’s understood not just in Moscow, but it’s understood in places like Beijing, that unprovoked aggression against your neighbors is not something the United States and its allies will tolerate.”

During the interview he bashed his former boss, saying that Republican support for Trump is in “terminal decline.”

However, it would appear that Bolton has not yet captured the hearts of Americans if the Twitter response to his announcement is any indication:
