Jon Voight: ‘Wake up America’ and ‘pray’ that Donald Trump ‘will return to the presidency’

Actor Jon Voight addressed the nation via Twitter on Sunday with a somber warning of the grave dangers we face. He urged Americans to “wake up from this bad dream and bring back life, justice, [and] truth” by returning Donald Trump to the presidency.

Dressed in a navy blue sport coat and blue dress shirt, the legendary actor opened his remarks by saying, “It is with great honor that I say, ‘God bless America.'”

The seasoned actor always speaks with a patented gravity. And in this case, he sounded like a man who might enter politics, addressing his audience “My fellow Americans.”

“Let us all wish this great land a great healing from all the unrighteousness that has taken place. My fellow Americans, we are in danger of a Third World War. We, as a family of one truth, must hear this now.”

For many everyday conservatives, there is indeed a dark foreboding about our times. It feels like the beginning of something terrible. There is a tremendous sense of loss and a great deal of anger over that loss – the loss of what made this country special and prosperous. A loss of hope. Voight captures this angst perfectly.

In the address, the star of “Midnight Cowboy” and “Runaway Train” refers to a lie without specifying it directly.

“Look at this lie, this deceit that continues day after day – can you not all see this lie? We must all wake up!”

Perhaps he is referring to the overall tenor of Democratic rhetoric. Or he could be referring to election results as deceitful. In either case, he is crafty to let Americans fill in that blank, and it keeps him from the charge of “election denialism.” Normal Americans are aware they are being lied to and that these are dark days in the life of our nation.

“Wake up, because if we don’t see this lie, this land will die – die in its beauty, its freedom, its opportunity,” continued Voight. “It’s supposed to be the land of the free. It’s far from this. It’s a dark web. A dark world.”

It’s not just a lie, according to the actor. It is a “dark web” of lies. Every law-abiding, country-loving citizen has his own top issue that can be included in this characterization. The lie of free and fair elections in light of early voting, mail-in voting, and weeks-long vote counting. The lie of Democrats being the guardians of democracy. The lie of transgenderism. The lie of abortion being a right and a good societal value. The lie of Ukrainian democracy, which must be protected with American fortune. The lies that have been told every day about our 45th president.

After this, Voight shifts his tone from despair to hope.

“But not for long,” he says, “because, my friends, a change is coming, and a new light will emerge.”

“We must all see this truth and allow justice to take place now,” he added. “You see, the only way we can win these elections is to see the lies, deceit and corruption from the left, the media, and the unknowns – we’ll know who they are.”

He suggested that Americans come together and “vote for true justice for all,” presumable in two years’ time. He is clearly saying that the only way to restore justice is to reelect Donald Trump.

“Pray that the one president who understood truths and had the best interest of the American people, the American dream — President Donald Trump — will return to the presidency. He and only he can stop this swamp, this deceit and injustice,” he said.

Voight, who has been a staunch conservative voice and critic of Joe Biden in recent years, contends that if we are to restore this country, there is only one way forward. He suggests that the first step is to snap out of the trance we’re in.

“Wake up from this bad dream and bring back life, justice, [and] truth in the only land that’s meant for dreams of goodness, the land of the free — America — the greatest land, the greatest soil for mankind; the land where heroes fought for their truths,” he said.

“Allow President Trump to rebuild our soil and our land so we can rise to her glory. Much love to you.”
