Joni Ernst slams Biden after military families’ Army-Navy game hotel rooms are given to illegals

Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) slammed President Joe Biden and his immigration policies as paying military families looking for lodging for the Army-Navy college football game have had their hotel reservations canceled for an outrageous reason.

In a sad example of the preferential treatment given to migrants by Democrats, military families who had booked reservations in Foxboro, Massachusetts for this year’s edition of the service classic had received notices informing them that their rooms were no longer available, instead, they are being used by the state to house the illegal aliens, prompting an angry letter from the senator.

“Your border policies are failing, and it is abundantly clear change is needed. Your failed policies are directly harming military families,” the Hawkeye State Republican wrote to Biden in the Monday letter that cited media reports. “It’s clear: these cancellations are due to your administration’s decision to ship illegal immigrants across the country to sanctuary cities at taxpayers’ expense.”

“Now, due to your untenable border crisis which has allowed nearly eight million illegal immigrants entry into the country, veterans and future servicemembers and their families will be unable to attend this year,” the Army veteran lawmaker wrote.

The annual contest between the two service academies has been an American tradition since 1890 with bragging rights between the military branches on the line in a game that, for the first time in its storied history, will be held in New England, kicking off on December 9 at Gillette Stadium, home of the NFL’s now-putrid New England Patriots.

Massachusetts is a state that has a “right to shelter” law that guarantees illegal aliens and their families will receive a roof over their heads at taxpayer expense, and apparently at the expense of those who have served their county along with their family members.

Mark Mansbach who owns Hillsdale Travel, a New Jersey-based company that has been assisting military members and their families with their hotel reservations for 20 years, especially with the Army-Navy Game previously told Fox News Digital that has never before seen a hotel claw back rooms, informing the outlet that around 60 rooms from various hotels had been canceled.

“The actual email said, ‘There’s nothing we can do,'” he said. “’ We’re just going to send out cancelation notices.’ I’ve never had a hotel say, ‘Hey, screw you, you’re on your own.’ This is a first.”

“I have never had a hotel take rooms back and give me nothing. They sent out cancellations and walked away,” Mansbach told CBS News Boston in one of the stories that was cited by Senator Ernst in her letter to Biden. “Some people (clients) have decided not to go, and others found space in Boston. Some I have been able to put into other hotels that I had space left in.”

“I have enough rooms to cover some of the people. Some people are looking around but pricing is very high. For many, the issue is safety … they are questioning the safety of remaining hotels located near those that are now filled with migrants. Lots of questions by my clients and most hotels are scrambling to come up with safety protocols,” he told the Boston Herald in October when the reservations were yanked from the veterans and their families looking forward to the big game.

“It is flatly unacceptable for our veterans and military families to be displaced because of your administration’s failure to secure our southern border. Military families who have scrimped and saved to be able to afford a trip to the Army-Navy game should not have to compete with illegal immigrants for hotel room space,” Ernst wrote in the letter.

“Not only is this game a recruitment mechanism, those of us who have served know it is truly an opportunity to showcase America’s finest—the incredible young servicemembers who have stepped forward to serve their country—the Corps of Cadets and Brigade of Midshipmen,” she added. “The Army-Navy Game gives attendees—many of whom are veterans themselves—the opportunity to honor the next generation of our fighting men and women, as well as our nation.”

“Nobody is able to get Rooms for the Army-Navy Game in Foxborough, Massachusetts, because all of the Rooms are occupied by Migrants Illegally in our Country. This is an All Time Classic—Only in Biden’s America!” Former President Donald J. Trump wrote on Truth Social after the news initially broke.
