Judiciary GOP warn Garland and Mayorkas, demand preservation of all border docs: ‘Winter is coming…’

Republican lawmakers, confident that the American voter will soon entrust them with control of the House, if not the Senate, are looking forward to their coming role in holding the Biden administration accountable for any number of failed policies and decisions.

One of the worst failures is the border crisis, where an unprecedented 5 million-plus illegal immigrants have crossed into the United States on President Joe Biden’s watch, with the White House doing little to counter the greatest invasion of humans in American history other than to try to process them faster before releasing many into the country — nearly a million illegal immigrant “gotaways” have successfully crossed the border undetected, according to Fox News.

U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, the ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, and U.S. Rep. Tom McClintock, R-Calif., are laying the groundwork for investigations and hearings on the border crisis and sent Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and Attorney General Merrick Garland letters demanding the agencies preserve documents and materials related to the issue of border security, Fox News reported.

“Winter is coming…,” read a tweet from the official Housie Judiciary GOP Twitter account:

“We are investigating the Biden Administration’s callous disregard for the safety and security of our southern border, including the Justice Department’s abuse of U.S. immigration law and policy to advance the Biden Administration’s political interests,” the GOP lawmakers said in the letter to Garland. “Since your confirmation we have written to you requesting information about the Administration’s use of federal taxpayer dollars to pay settlements to illegal aliens who violated U.S. law, and your purge of immigration judges appointed by former President Trump for political reasons. Our letters have gone unanswered. The American people deserve better than to be ignored by an Administration intent on undermining the rule of law and erasing our national borders.”

“Furthermore, this letter serves as a formal request to preserve all existing and future records and materials in your possession relating to the topics addressed in this letter,” they continued. “You should construe this preservation notice as an instruction to take all reasonable steps to prevent the destruction or alteration, whether intentionally or negligently, of all documents, communications, and other information, including electronic information and metadata, that are or may be responsive to this congressional inquiry.

In the letter sent to the Homeland Security secretary, Jordan and McClintock reference his “dereliction” of duty when it comes to protecting the southern border.

“We are investigating the Biden Administration’s callous disregard for the safety and security of our southern border, and your willful failure to enforce U.S. immigration law,” they inform Mayorkas.

“Committee Republicans intend to continue our oversight of the causes and consequences of the unprecedented Biden border crisis into the 118th Congress,” the Republicans wrote. “This oversight includes examining the abdication of your duty to secure our borders, your failure to enforce federal immigration laws, and your dereliction in protecting Americans from the serious and detrimental consequences of the illegal immigration that you and the Biden Administration have caused.”

Mayorkas was informed that the American people “deserve full transparency and accountability to understand the severity of the crisis along the border and exactly how it got to this point.”

There has been no slow down in the wave of humanity crashing our border, with last month’s total of 227,000 encounters setting a record for the month of September. Aside from the drug cartels profiting greatly from the wide open border, migrants are dying by the hundreds even though the media has little interest in reporting these numbers.

In FY2022, more than 850 migrants have died trying to come to America, according to Fox News, with many local morgues full of dead bodies.
