The U.S. Supreme Court handed President Donald Trump a win on immigration, and the unanimous opinion was even written by one of the high court’s liberal justices.
Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, a Biden appointee, authored the ruling that came down on Wednesday in favor of Trump’s policies, ordering that federal courts must defer to immigration judges when making decisions on asylum.
In the opinion, Jackson explained federal courts are required by immigration laws to use a “substantial-evidence standard” when evaluating decisions made by immigration judges about asylum claims and whether an asylum seeker would potentially face “persecution” if deported.
🚨 BREAKING: US Supreme Court UNANIMOUSLY strikes down activist judge attempts to shield migrants from deportation by simply claiming they’d face “persecution” if deported

“The agency’s determination… is generally ‘conclusive unless any reasonable adjudicator would be compelled to conclude to the contrary,’” Jackson wrote.
According to Fox News:
Under the Immigration and Nationality Act, migrants can claim asylum when crossing the border without documentation. But immigration judges, who are employees of the Department of Justice, eventually vet those claims and determine whether to grant migrants asylum, which would allow them to stay in the country, or order their deportation.
ADVERTISEMENTThe migrant can appeal the decision to the Board of Immigration Appeals, which is also housed within the executive branch, and can then appeal that decision to the federal circuit courts and the Supreme Court.
“The decision in this case, Urias-Orellana v. Bondi, affirmed that the judicial branch must largely defer to the executive branch’s findings about whether the migrant would suffer persecution if deported, rather than start from scratch and conduct its own review,” the outlet noted.
Another WIN for common sense!
The U.S. Supreme Court unanimously ruled that immigration agencies not individual judges determine asylum claims based on alleged persecution.
A clear reminder: America’s laws should be enforced as written.

Social media users agreed that the court’s unanimous decision sends a strong message.
You know it’s clear cut when they issue a 9-0 ruling. There is very little all 9 of the Justices seem to agree on.

Supreme Court UNANIMOUS on Immigration Authority
In a 9–0 decision, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that claims of “persecution” must be evaluated through the federal immigration system not unilaterally used by lower court judges to halt deportations.

In other words, they finally told these district court judges to stay in their lanes

Holy shit!!! 9-0 decisions are extremely rare.

Good on Ketanji Brown-Jackson for not only joining the majority in an opinion that favored Trump, but in authoring the opinion, herself.
