Kamala Harris gets assist from DeSantis spox on teachers being ‘able to love openly’ in classroom

Vice President Kamala Harris has yet again proven that she’s not the sharpest tool in the shed with her distortion of not only Florida’s Parental Rights In Education law but the basic role of a teacher.

Democrats have erroneously labeled the recently passed law respecting parents’ rights by banning K-3 classroom instruction of sexual orientation the “Don’t Say Gay” bill, and much like the left has done with the overturning of Roe v. Wade, they counter with a heavy dose of fearmongering. On Sunday, during an interview with journalist Brian Tyler Cohen, Harris did just that.

“We all know your right to vote and the action of voting unlocks all the other rights, including same-sex marriage,” the vice president said. “Including whether we are going to stand up against a law that says ‘Don’t Say Gay,’ restricting kindergarten through third-grade teachers to be able to love openly and teach what they believe is important for people to understand.”

The law she references doesn’t even mention the word “gay,” with the actual text stating that “classroom instruction by school personnel or third parties on sexual orientation or gender identity may not occur in kindergarten through grade 3 or in a manner that is not age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards.”

And teachers teach from an approved curriculum, not “what they believe is important for people to understand.”

Harris targeted both Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Texas Governor Greg Abbott for limiting abortions, though she did not mention the Republicans by name.

“We have governors from Florida to Texas and other states who are approaching this from an extremist position, that is definitely about attacking the rights of women to make decisions about their own body,” she said. “These various states with these extremist, so-called leaders are passing laws that make it more difficult for a woman to have access to reproductive care and to abortion.”

Proving you can’t get anything past her while talking about codifying Roe, Harris added: “Women are getting pregnant every day in America, and this is a real issue.”

The good news here being that Harris has apparently figured out what a woman is. The bad news, from a leftist standpoint, is that she now joins the ranks of the transphobic.

The vice president effectively ruled out expanding the Supreme Court to even out its conservative majority in the interview, according to the Daily Mail.

“I think what we’ve got to do right now is deal with what we’ve got in front of us, and the reality is that we don’t even have the votes in the United States Senate to codify Roe,” Harris said. “The president has been clear that expansion of the court is not something that’s on the table, so let’s focus right now on what we need to do around winning this election with pro-choice, you know, people.”

DeSantis Spokesperson Christina Pushaw was only too happy to lend Harris a hand in comprehending the law, tweeting: “Love whoever you want. But regardless of gay or straight, why do you need to ‘love openly’ at work when you work with children????”
