Kamala joins with Zelenskyy for presser, photo op – takes no questions

With hand held out, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was in Washington on Thursday, making his now regular appeal to the DC political class for funding to further support war with Russia.

After meeting with President Biden and bipartisan groups of House and Senate members, Zelenskyy joined with Vice President Kamala Harris to hold a news conference — a move seen as more election interference in that it builds up the Democratic nominee’s foreign policy chops.

Par for the course, Harris read from scripted remarks in support of endless funding of the war on foreign shores and took no questions from the media.

“There are some in my country who would instead force Ukraine to give up large parts of its sovereign territory, who would demand that Ukraine accept neutrality, and would require Ukraine to forgo security relationships with other nations,” the candidate said. “These proposals are the same as those of [Russian President Vladimir] Putin and let us be clear, they are not proposals for peace. Instead, they are proposals for surrender, which is dangerous and unacceptable.”

And while Harris did not name former President Donald Trump, her opponent, she didn’t need to — the implication was obvious.

On Sunday, Zelenskyy visited an ammunition factory in the critical battleground state of Pennsylvania with Democrats, joining with Gov. Josh Shapiro to autograph newly produced artillery shells.

House Speaker Mike Johnson called on the Ukrainian president to fire his country’s ambassador to the U.S. over the stunt.

“The tour was clearly a partisan campaign event designed to help Democrats and is clearly election interference,” Johnson wrote in a letter to Zelenskyy, according to the Associated Press.
