Regular Fox News contributor Kat Timpf announced both an incoming baby and a cancer diagnosis on Tuesday.
“Last week, I welcomed my first child into the world,” she wrote in a now-viral tweet. “About fifteen hours before I went into labor, I was diagnosed with breast cancer.”
The good news is her cancer is in Stage 0 and hasn’t spread, meaning she’s most likely going to be just fine.
“More than 98 percent of patients who are diagnosed with stage 0 breast cancer survive at least five years after their original diagnosis,” according to the Moffitt Cancer Center. “While a few patients will experience recurrences, the survival rates are still encouraging.”
An Unconventional Birth Announcement

Now, before you worry, my doctor says it’s Stage 0 and is confident that it almost certainly hasn’t…

That being said, the day she found out about the cancer diagnosis and then later gave birth was not easy for her.
“I woke up more-than-a-week-past-due pregnant, completely consumed by doing everything I could to get the baby out,” she explained in her tweet. “By the middle of the afternoon, I was waddling around from appointment to appointment, talking about how to get my cancer out.”
“I sat and listened as they told me that the best course of action would likely be a double mastectomy as soon as possible. I asked all the questions I could, including if I could get a copy of my tumor ultrasound to put on the fridge next to the ultrasound of my baby,” she added.
“Finally, by the middle of the night, I was crawling around on the floor of my apartment in spontaneous labor, before heading to the hospital to meet my baby, whom I’d learn at the time of birth was a son,” she continued.
She went on to note how the employees at the hospital where she gave birth were very receptive to her famous, dark, off-brand sense of humor.

Timpf concluded her post by celebrating the fact that the cancer was caught in such an early stage and also celebrating her new son.
“[A]s I navigate new motherhood (and new cancer) I’m learning to celebrate everything I can,” she wrote. “I’m lucky that we found the cancer so early; I’m lucky to be my son’s mom. I mean, I know I’m biased, but the little dude absolutely rules — and not just because he might have saved my life.”
“Thank you all for your support, laughter, and love as I embrace this wildly unexpected chapter. Here’s to resilience, to miracles in the midst of chaos, and to finding humor and hope even on the toughest days,” she added.
The Fox News host’s post attracted nearly 30,000 replies, virtually all of them supportive.

We love you, Kat, & will be here for you every step of the way. What a relief that you caught it early. Also, your baby is adorable and such a blessing. Yes, it’s crazy to be writing a ‘congrats on becoming a mom—and also, beat cancer’ message like this, but the reality itself is…

Timpf last made headlines vis-a-vis her personal life when she told popular podcast Joe Rogan last year that she’d been on attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHH) medications for decades.
During the podcast, Timpf, 35, specifically revealed that she was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of five and was soon after prescribed amphetamines. However, she said she’d recently stopped taking her meds because of her then-pregnancy.
