KJP, Doocy share ‘one last dance’ after years of fighting like cats and dogs

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre is wrapping up her duties as the end of the Biden administration draws near, sharing a moment with her favorite Fox News antagonist.

The verbal sparring between Jean-Pierre and Peter Doocy has made for some excellent clips, but their parting exchange was nothing like the knockdown, drag-out verbal jousting matches Americans have come to expect from the pair. Instead, the mood was far warmer as Doocy took the time to express his gratitude for always being called on despite their disagreements.

“Thank you, Karine,” Doocy said after the press secretary called on him. “If I don’t see you again in the briefing room, thank you for always — you could have stopped taking the hard questions two years ago and you didn’t; so we appreciate that.”

“Over two years, my friend,” she responded. “This is, let’s say, one last dance, right? I don’t know how I’m gonna fill my dance card now. How will I fill that void without you?”

“You tell me!” Doocy said amid laughter.

“Start some rumors in here, I guess,” KJP quipped.

After the humorous exchange, Doocy got down to business by asking a question that was too difficult for the press secretary to answer.

“A week from now, it’s all over. Between next Monday and 2028, who’s the leader of the Democratic Party?” Doocy wondered, asking the question on everyone’s mind following the Democrats’ sound beating in November.

“Oh, my goodness. Wow. Um, that is, honestly, that is for people much smarter than I to make that assessment, that decision. Uh, obviously, um, voters will decide. That it is not something for me to decide. I could say, right now, in this moment, in this room, uh, as I’m looking at the clock as it’s counting down because we have to leave shortly, uh, you have the president- President Joe Biden, who is obviously the president and the leader of the Democratic Party. I do not have a, uh, I- I cannot predict the future, so that is not something that I’m going to do from here,” she responded, giving Doocy one last non-answer for the road.
