Kristen Welker offers no pushback when DSA candidate calls Trump ’34-count adjudicated rapist’

Democratic Socialist Senate Nominee Angie Nixon got fact-checked on her anti-Trump claims, but not by the journalist she was speaking to.

Nixon faced absolutely no pushback from NBC News’ Kristen Welker when she called President Donald Trump a “34-count adjudicated rapist” while answering a question about whether she supports drafting a new Constitution.

Watch:

“The DSA platform also calls for drafting a new constitution. Do you support that?” Welker asked.

“I don’t support that, but what I do support is making sure that we’re fully following the Constitution which is everything that Donald Trump is against,” Nixon responds. “We need to make sure that we’re enforcing our laws, and not allowing someone like Donald Trump, who happens to be a 34-count adjudicated rapist, to actually circumvent those things.”

“Well, it sounds like you disagree with a number of the DSA policy items,” Welker continues, not addressing the bizarre and incorrect allegations levied against Trump by her guest.

Jason Cohen shared the clip with an important fact-check.

“Trump was convicted on 34 counts of falsifying business records — not rape. He was separately found civilly liable for sexual abuse against E. Jean Carroll. The jury even specifically rejected the rape claim,” he wrote. “These are basic, well-established facts. Yet there was no correction or fact-check.”

“ABC News and George Stephanopoulos previously paid Trump a multi-million dollar settlement after the anchor repeatedly claimed he had been found liable for rape,” he added.
