Laura Ingraham delivers depressing news on Trump-Musk split

In what serves as the latest example of American politics being a dumpster fire, the “bromance” between President Donald J. Trump and billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk appears to have come to an end.

And, according to Fox News host Laura Ingraham, the breakup may be “irreparable.”

The split dominated the news cycle Thursday as signs of trouble first appeared when the now-former first buddy came out hard against the “Big Beautiful Bill” that Trump is enthusiastically pushing, citing legitimate concerns about the debt being racked up and how it will “enslave” the nation. The split was all but confirmed when Musk later shared that the reason the Epstein files have not been released is that Trump is named in them.

President Trump would eventually take to Truth Social to announce that he had asked Musk to leave his inner circle because the Tesla CEO was “wearing thin,” adding that Musk was now “turning against me.”

Conservative political activist Charlie Kirk was a guest on “The Ingraham Angle,” and like many others troubled by this dynamic pairing being on the outs, Kirk expressed hope for a reconciliation.

“President Donald Trump built this movement for 10 years,” he said. “His supporters are not going anywhere. I hope that Elon and Trump reconcile. It would be good for the country, and to do so privately.”

“Well, I talked to an insider today who said it’s irreparable,” Ingraham replied. “That was the line. It is irreparable.”

“But you know, look, Donald Trump will sit down with anybody. So, it’s probably not irreparable on Trump’s side,” she added. “But Elon Musk, again, you run your own kingdom at your companies… but look, Donald Trump’s in charge. And Congress is Congress. So, you have to deal with the reality of what you have in front of you. Trump’s a realist.”

The president offered a reason for the split on Truth Social: “Elon was ‘wearing thin,’ I asked him to leave, I took away his EV Mandate that forced everyone to buy Electric Cars that nobody else wanted (that he knew for months I was going to do!), and he just went CRAZY!”

In a follow-up post, Trump called for terminating Musk’s contracts with the federal government, saying that would be “the easiest way to save money in our Budget, Billions and Billions of Dollars.”

“I don’t mind Elon turning against me, but he should have done so months ago,” he added in another post. “This is one of the Greatest Bills ever presented to Congress. It’s a Record Cut in Expenses, $1.6 Trillion Dollars, and the Biggest Tax Cut ever given. If this Bill doesn’t pass, there will be a 68% Tax Increase, and things far worse than that. I didn’t create this mess, I’m just here to FIX IT. This puts our Country on a Path of Greatness. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
