Legacy press finally recognizes Joe Biden’s senility after ‘where’s Jackie’ blunder, WH spox fails to spin

Congressional Republicans and even their staffers are demanding that President Joe Biden apologize for calling out Rep. Jackie Walorski’s name during an event Wednesday despite the Republican congresswoman having died in a car crash last month.

Republicans are equally upset over the White House’s dishonest attempt to downplay what was clearly a cognitive hiccup by America’s oldest president.

Following the event on Wednesday, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was asked to explain why the president had suddenly called out Walorski’s name.

The press secretary replied with a clearly dishonest answer about how the deceased congresswoman had been on “top of [the president’s] mind” because he’s scheduled to meet with her family on Friday.

“So the president was [at] … a very important event on food insecurity. The president was naming the congressional champions on this issue and was acknowledging her incredible work. He had already planned to welcome the congresswoman’s family to the White House on Friday. There will be a bill signing in her honor this coming Friday,” she said.

“So, of course, she was on his mind. She was top of mind for the president. He looks — very much looks forward to discussing her remarkable legacy of public service with them when he sees her family this coming Friday.”

Everybody saw through the answer. Indeed, several reporters who were unsatisfied with her answer tried pressing her on it, but each time she spouted the same tired talking points.

“Again, I think people can understand, I think the American people out there who, you know, watch the briefing from time to time, maybe at this moment, will understand when someone is at top of mind,” she said at one point.

“Again, I don’t think it’s all that unusual to have someone top of mind, especially as there’s a big event — two big events — today and also Friday — that is going to occur. And so he’s going to see her family. They’re going to honor her. They’re going to celebrate her. And he will do a bill signing for this really critical — let’s not forget — this critical, important issue for millions and millions of Americans across the country.”

As previously reported, during the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health this Wednesday, the president began shouting out the names of those congressional Democrats and Republicans he thought were in attendance.

“I want to thank all of you here, including bipartisan elected officials like … Senator Braun, Senator Booker, Representative … Jackie, Jackie are you here? I think she was going to be here to help make this a reality. She must not be here,” he said.

She wasn’t there because she was dead. And the president should have known this given that he’d issued a statement following Walorski’s death last month.

Responding to the press secretary’s remarks, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s press secretary, Doug Andres, tweeted, “[J]ust admit he misspoke!! good grief.”

Meanwhile, Sen. Ted Cruz’s spokesperson, Steve Guest, tweeted, “Remember where you where on September 28,2022. It’s the day it finally became ok for the White House Press pool to acknowledge that Joe Biden is senile.”

He had a point. For once, the media aren’t downplaying and/or making excuses for the president’s glaring senility. They’re actually talking about it:

  • The New York Times: ‘Where’s Jackie?’ Biden Asks if Deceased Lawmaker Is at White House Event
  • ABC News: Biden appears to look for congresswoman killed in car crash: ‘Where’s Jackie?’
  • USA Today: Biden mistakenly calls out recently deceased congresswoman
  • NPR: Biden calls out for late Rep. Jackie Walorski at White House hunger event
  • Reuters: ‘Where’s Jackie?’ Biden seeks lawmaker Walorski who died in August
  • Etc.

It’s rare to see the media be so open about the president’s mental decline. The public, meanwhile, gets it.

An Insider/Morning Consult poll published earlier this month found that “nearly six in 10 American adults felt that Biden was either ‘somewhat unfit’ or ‘very unfit’ to serve in public office right now.”

Fox News host Tucker Carlson also responded to Jean-Pierre’s comments.

“What is unusual is to have a completely senile president. And it’s a problem. For two reasons. One, he doesn’t seem threatening, so most of the population has no idea what’s actually going on — it looks like grandpa nodding out at the Thanksgiving table. So people don’t really get just how radical this administration is,” he said.

“And the second problem with having a senile president — we’re living through this now– is that weak leaders cause disasters. … It’s the weak who screw things up every single day. And Joe Biden is the weakest of all.”
