A touchdown in the first quarter of Sunday’s game between the Detroit Lions and the Washington Commanders saw one player celebrate with a tribute to President Donald Trump.
Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown extended his team’s lead in the NFL game with a touchdown and then decided to “have some fun,” knowing the president was watching the game at Northwest Stadium.
St. Brown caught a nine-yard touchdown pass and celebrated by breaking into what is known as the “Trump dance,” joined by fellow wide receiver Jameson Williams and other teammates.

Trump’s signature dance moves, which include fists in the air and a side-to-side twist, have become a celebratory staple in the sports world as athletes from various sports leagues have spontaneously broken into the dance since the president’s election victory in 2024.
The president was in attendance at Sunday’s Commanders-Lions game, making an “epic” grand entrance with a low flyover of the stadium in Air Force One. Trump even called some plays from the broadcast booth during the “Salute to Service” game honoring military veterans.
“We are honored to welcome President Trump to the game as we celebrate those who have served and continue to serve our country,” Commanders Club President Mark Clouse said ahead of Sunday’s game. “The entire Commanders organization is proud to participate in the NFL’s leaguewide Salute to Service initiative, recognizing the dedication and sacrifice of our nation’s veterans, active-duty service members and their families this Sunday.”

“I heard Trump was going to be at the game,” St. Brown said after the game.
“I don’t know how many times the president is going to be at the game,” he added. “So I just decided to have some fun and do the dance.”
Social media users applauded the player’s moves.
