Sean Davis, co-founder of The Federalist, has a warning for the Republican Party and specifically President Donald Trump.
He took to X with a blunt message for the majority party ahead of midterms, following the shocking success of the Democratic Party on November 4th. He warned about the dangers of resting on their laurels and how coming to the ballot box with no real accomplishments under their belts would result in a humbling electoral experience.
Look:
I don’t know who is advising congressional Republicans on strategy right now, but it is whoever it is has an IQ barely approaching room temperature.

“I don’t know who is advising congressional Republicans on strategy right now, but whoever it is has an IQ barely approaching room temperature,” Davis wrote. “Republicans right now have no accomplishments, no plans, and no vision. Why on earth would anyone be excited to go vote for them 12 months right now? Trump needs to ditch the foreign policy crap and focus all his attention on the domestic economy, which is still not working for the majority of people. Right now, he looks weak and rudderless.”
He made it clear that he’s not concerned about the criticism that will come as a result of his analysis.
“Be mad all you want, but it’s the truth. Newly minted college grads can’t find work and are saddled with debt. Where is their path to the American dream right now? Who is giving them a vision of a future worth fighting for? You cannot have a viable country or future when half your country and all its young people are locked out of the economy and locked out of ever owning a home or much of anything beyond next month’s streaming subscription,” he noted. “Does anyone in Washington care about this? Anyone at all? Republicans had better wake up, because right now their nightmare is only beginning if they don’t start making massive changes.”
X users weighed in with their own advice for the party.
“Two things need to happen: first, Republicans need to do things that matter. Substantive things. Second, the RNC needs to find ways to get Republicans to vote. Too many are sitting on their hands. Case in point: if just half of the registered Republicans had voted on Nov. 4, Prop. 50 would have been defeated. But they were too effing lazy to fill out the only question on the ballot and mail it back in. Apathy kills. If Republicans don’t wake up and vote, we’re screwed,” wrote one commenter.

“I think the messaging about the timeline on tariffs and incoming foreign investment has been horrible. It will take time for those strategies to work in a way that’s meaningful to the public in terms of inflation/price reduction and solid job growth in employment sectors that pay well and are career oriented. My feeling is that, whatever the messaging has been out of the WH, it’s led to folks thinking that all of those pluses would be happening over-night, so to speak,” said another.

“The Big Beautiful Bill barely passed as well. This GOP Congress is not playing ball with its own MAGA voters. Trump is also getting bad advice lately regarding stimulus checks and 50 year mortgage loans. They will help but only temporarily. Not a single Trump EO has been codified by this GOP Congress,” explained a third commenter. “Even if the filibuster is ended trust that several members of this GOP Congress won’t pass anything of substance Meanwhile the Democrats are all unified and succeeded in keeping the government closed. The ACA subsidies will be extended since there is currently no plan to replace it Both GOP and Democrats are milking the clock, 3 years until Trump and MAGA go away.”
