Liz Cheney scolds Levin over his take on Trump’s actions: ‘Uh, I said it wasn’t criminal, assh*les’

U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney is certain to understand that the window is quickly closing on her political career as a Republican representative for the state of Wyoming and seems content on going out clinging to the “principled conservative” banner she wraps herself in while siding with the Democratic Party in targeting Donald Trump.

With the hope of a criminal indictment of Trump hanging in the air, Cheney took great exception to Fox News host Mark Levin suggesting the “so-called fake electors” plot employed in response to the 2020 election outcome was not criminal. This being the focus of a piece from Media Matters, a hard-left activist group that poses as a media watchdog. The article claims Levin “passionately defends Trump’s fake electors scheme.”

Cheney took to Twitter to insist the effort was indeed illegal, tagging Levin:

.@MarkLevinshow: The Eastman memos & fake elector scheme are indefensible. On the memos: Eastman took the opposite legal position a month before the election; he knew all 9 Justices would rule against him; & he admitted it was illegal in an Oval Office meeting & afterwards. (1/3)

This served as more fodder to nudge Attorney General Merrick Garland to take the unprecedented, historic step of indicting not only a former president but the likely leading presidential candidate of a major party. Which may be what Cheney really took offense to, as Levin noted that Garland was being pushed to take action.

On Sunday, Levin said on his Fox News show “Life, Liberty, and Levin”:

“Oh, well, what about these so-called fake electors? That is to be resolved by the United States Congress. That is not a crime either. You might not like it. You might think it’s weird, you might think it’s unethical, but it’s not a crime. So to criminalize politics, to criminalize many of these things that have gone on in this country through its history, to completely misunderstand what the Electoral College is all about. And when the election is finally over, which is why they meet on January 6, to make that decision is to take the criminal law process and project it on top of the Constitution to pervert it.

“The Democrats are pushing hard. They’re pushing hard the attorney general. They’re pushing hard the U.S. attorney. The U.S.. Attorney, we’re told, is now investigating Trump.”

What’s more, Levin called on Cheney to debate the issue with him, tweeting: “Stop hiding, Liz. Come on my radio show where we can debate this and numerous other issues. You’ve been invited before and I’m inviting you again.”

Of course, the “Pelosi Republican” cannot afford to lose control of the narrative as she appears to be maneuvering for a 2024 presidential run.

“When you return to being a principled conservative, I’ll return to your show,” she replied. “In the meantime, read what Judge Luttig has written about 1/6 & read ‘Lost, Not Stolen,’ by a group of conservatives, and watch all the conservative Republicans in our hearings. Maybe that will help.”

Levin also took a shot at Media Matters for distorting his take.

“Uh, I said it wasn’t criminal, assh*les; I didn’t passionately defend it,” Levin wrote. “I don’t know how much Soros is paying you dolts but your association with him has ruined you clowns forever.”
