Macron rocks out at Elton John concert while France burns in modern day ‘let them eat cake’ moment

French President Emmanuel Macron acted like a man without a care in the world, partying at an Elton John concert as his country teetered on the brink of anarchy with violent riots raging and marauding mobs rampaging in the streets, burning and pillaging in the aftermath of the death of a 17-year-old who was killed by police during a traffic stop.

Video of Mr. and Mrs. Macron dancing at the legendary rocker’s performance at the Accor Arena in Paris where he performed his hits on his final “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” world tour, unironically swaying to the beat of  “Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting” amid the civil unrest, drawing criticism from those who said that the footage was the globalist leader’s “let them eat cake” moment.

“As protesters burn French cities, Macron lights up at Elton John concert in Paris,” wrote the Twitter user who shared the damning video. “The President of France in these shots is in a great mood, he enjoys music with his wife and dances a little.”

“Opposition ministers, such as Thierry Mariani of National Rally, called Macron ‘totally irresponsible’ and noted that ‘while France was on fire, Macron preferred to applaud Elton John,’ according to Fox News.

The violence that erupted after the shooting of Nahel M., a young man of North African descent who was shot in the Paris suburb of Nanterre last week has been called France’s “George Floyd moment,” a reference to the black career criminal and drug addict whose death at the hands of Minneapolis police while resisting arrest on Memorial Day weekend in 2020 ignited a wave of violent race riots across the U.S. as the mayhem by Black Lives Matter militants and leftist thugs was explained away as the result of systemic racism by politicians, the media, corporations and sports leagues who all sanctioned the “mostly peaceful” protests that destroyed large swaths of Minneapolis and other cities.

Videos that have been shared on Twitter over the last several days show the unfolding chaos in France, a European version of the “summer of love” that rocked the nation three years ago.

The deeply unpopular Macron’s policies had already sparked civil unrest even before last week’s fiery eruption, and the video of him enjoying himself at Sir. Elton John’s show drew heavy fire on Twitter.

Macron has called off his planned trip to Germany for what would have been the first visit by a French president in over 20 years.

“A state visit is a visit of friendship, purely ceremonial, there will be a better time to do so,” an unnamed aide to Macron aide told Reuters.
