Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade draws backlash over trans celebration

Ditching family-friendly parade routes of the past, this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade could get the Bud Light treatment amidst backlash as a “non-binary and transgender extravaganza…”

A clarion call rang out to concerned parents everywhere ahead of the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, like Disney, once considered a staple of wholesome entertainment. Now, as the organization One Million Moms warned about the “LGBTQ agenda” set to be featured, a growing number of people were speaking out about the event representing “another example of an ideological war that’s being waged on families.”

After roughly a week circulating online, a petition from One Million Moms to oppose the parade and sponsor Macy’s had garnered roughly 30,000 signatures at the time of this post. It specified, “The non-binary and transgender extravaganza on display this Thanksgiving will be brought to you by Macy’s during their annually sponsored Thanksgiving Day Parade.”

“Unless they are forewarned about it, this year’s holiday parade will potentially expose tens of millions of viewers at home to the liberal LGBTQ agenda,” the petition continued as it specifically referenced performers Justin David Sullivan and Alex Newell, from “& Juliet” and “Shucked” respectively, who each refer to themselves as non-binary. The former musical was slated to be a feature performance of the parade.

Also noted of the year prior, entertainer Kim Petras, a man who refers to himself as female, had kicked off the trend of featuring transgenderism at the annual event.

Joining “Fox & Friends” Tuesday, Alliance Defending Freedom president Kristen Waggoner told co-host Brian Kilmeade, “…Macy’s inclusion of a non-binary transgender character in a parade is just another example of an ideological war that’s being waged on families, and customers are saying they’ve had enough. But it seems that corporate brands that were once trusted just still aren’t getting the message.”

“So, I think you’re seeing parents stand up, rise up and say we’re going to parent, and we expect our family-friendly events to truly be family-friendly and not teach our children values that we object to,” she continued.

Pressed on the preferred leftist talking point of being “tolerant to all,” Waggoner asserted, “We’re all about tolerance and inclusivity, and what that means is that it shouldn’t be corporate brands that are waging propaganda on our children.”

“Right now, we’re seeing in the entertainment industry at Disney’s hand, as well as even in our school system, we’re seeing propaganda being waged that plays out in secret transitions that are being facilitated without parents’ knowledge. We’re seeing curriculum and books that are being used in classrooms designed to confuse children about who they are and who God created them to be,” she went on highlighting a number of conflicts in the culture war. “So I think, again, it’s an issue of parents saying, ‘We’re here to parent,’ and this ideology isn’t just existing in a theory or a vacuum. It’s playing out on the ground and it’s very destructive.”

The president also spoke to the recent box office disappointment of Marvel’s latest feature film “The Marvels,” which fell short of even adjusted expectations and only brought in about $47 million for its opening weekend.

As the petition and the movement behind it gained traction, many voiced their agreement with reminders about how effective boycotts had been against the likes of Bud Light and Target.
