Maher pokes fun at Biden’s fall during Roe discussion: ‘Just demonstrating’ how to ‘get rid of a baby’

In his last show before a break and his first since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, Bill Maher caused his audience to cringe over a joke at President Joe Biden’s expense.

As expected, a good portion of Maher’s “Real Time” opening monologue on Friday was consumed with talk of abortion and the Supreme Court, but it was the HBO host’s joke about Biden’s recent bike fall that elicited the most groans.

“I just want to say to all you purists on the left who could not bring yourself to vote for Hillary Clinton because she said ‘super predator’ in 1996, enjoy getting super pregnant in 2022,” the comedian stated before pivoting to Biden.

“President Biden talked about his today, the abortion ruling,” he continued. “He said he had been bracing for this imminent reversal for quite some time. And actually, last week when he fell off the bike in Texas, did you see that? He said, ‘I was just demonstrating how a woman can get rid of a baby.'”

Not surprisingly, the liberal-leaning Maher took far deeper digs at conservatives, and not just for returning the power of abortion legislation to the states. He also took aim at the SCOTUS Second Amendment decision.

“They struck down a New York law about carrying guns, you know, on your body when you leave the house so everyone now can be strapped at all times in public,” he said. “Well, welcome to right-wing America, where if you want to end a young life, you have to shoot them.”

It was a cheap shot, considering the mass shootings that have been stopped by law-abiding gun carriers.

As BizPac Review reported in May, the FBI confirmed that citizens stopped active shooters in six separate incidents in 2021. Of the six, four active shooters were killed.

Maher also took aim at former President Donald Trump for his role in ending Roe v. Wade.

“Three of these justices were appointed by Trump,” he stated. “Trump is out of office, but his awfulness lingers on. He’s like a fart with bad hair.”

From here on out, Maher predicted, life in America will be different.

“It’s gonna be a fun America we’re going to live in,” he promised. “It’s a very different America. Now, when you ask a drug dealer if he’s holding, it’ll be about the morning after pill.”

“Oh yeah,” he said. “It’s interesting.”

Maher then referenced a concurring solo opinion written by Justice Clarence Thomas, who suggested that, with this ruling, cases that relied on the now-debunked “Due Process Clause” — cases that deal with access to contraception, same-sex sex, and same-sex marriage — should now also be “reconsidered.”

“Because any substantive due process decision is ‘demonstrably erroneous’… we have a duty to ‘correct the error’ established in those precedents,” the conservative justice wrote.

According to Maher, that was “the scariest part of this.”

“Basically, he said, watch out now. They’re going to go after birth control. They’re going to go after gay rights,” Maher said. “He seems to want to reverse all the social advancements we’ve had in the last 50 years.”

“Everything except interracial marriage…” he said, referring to the fact that Justice Thomas is in an interracial marriage. “Somehow that one slips through.”

Maher emphasized that America would now be more divided than ever.

“We are going to be living in two very distinct Americas,” he said. “Well, it’s going to be like with weed. You know, that’s not legal in every state. That’s going to be the same thing with abortion access.”

“You have to be very careful about what state you’re in,” he warned. “Be careful where you get stoned. I do. I do.”

“And be careful where you get boned,” he added.

“It’s going to be state by state,” he joked. “If you’re in Louisiana, the slogan is, ‘What happens in the womb stays in the womb.”

“California,” Maher stated. “It’s going to be, ‘Come pregnant, leave happy.'”
