New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani reacted to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s scathing video on Tuesday.
Netanyahu threatened to “tell the truth about” Mamdani, as well as the “heroic soldiers” protecting Israel, at the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The video came after Mamdani acknowledged that his city doesn’t have the legal authority to act on the International Criminal Court’s warrant for the prime minister’s arrest.

“Shame on you, Mr. Mamdani. Shame on you for supporting the Hamas terrorist monsters who butchered our people. Shame on you for inciting riots against New York Jews,” Netanyahu said. “I’m coming to the U.N. I am going to tell the truth about our heroic soldiers, and I’m going to tell you the truth about you.”
Later that day, Mamdani hit back in a statement that rejected the allegations and once again brought up the 2024 warrant.
“We all know that what the prime minister has said in that video is not true. What we do know to actually be the truth when it comes to the prime minister is that he is the subject of an International Criminal Court arrest warrant for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity,” the mayor said. “And as the prime minister, he is the architect of horrific genocide against Palestinians. And just a few days ago, his military killed an 11-year-old boy in what is deemed to be a safe zone in Gaza. So that is what I have to say to his video.”

This is the latest installment in a months-long beef between the two, after Mamdani threatened to pursue all possible legal avenues in an attempt to act on the ICC warrant. He was ultimately unsuccessful, but that hasn’t stemmed his hatred.
“I believe that Prime Minister Netanyahu belongs in the Hague,” he said to The New York Times at the time. “He’s a war criminal who has been charged by the International Criminal Court.”
