Man charged with killing girlfriend and her unborn child after she refused an abortion

A 21-year-old black man accused of shooting his pregnant white girlfriend last year after she refused to have an abortion has been arrested in Sanford, Florida.

Donovan Faison was arrested Tuesday for the double homicide of his girlfriend Kaylin Fiengo and her unborn baby nearly 10 months after she was found shot to death in her car at a park, the Sanford Police Department said in a Facebook post.

“Through the course of the investigation, investigators determined that Kaylin went to Coastline Park the night of the homicide to meet Donovan Faison,” the SPD said. “In the weeks before the homicide, Kaylin and Faison had multiple arguments in which Kaylin’s pregnancy was the focus of the argument. Investigators believe that Faison wanted Kaylin to terminate the pregnancy and Kaylin’s refusal to do so was the probable motive for the homicide.”

Police Chief Cecil Smith assured all that Kaylin, who also had a one-year-old child, “will have the justice she deserves.”

“Today’s events come after a long, almost ten months, of an exhaustive investigation. Our investigators have made sure every possible shred of evidence was processed and analyzed in order to bring Kaylin’s killer to justice,” Smith said. “This beautiful, young woman and mother, was taken from this world far too soon, and in a horrific way. We hope that today’s arrest brings the slightest amount of peace for Kaylin’s family and the young son she left behind. It doesn’t bring her back, but at least she will have the justice she deserves.”

At the time of her death, the police chief was clear that violence of this type wouldn’t be tolerated.

“The senselessness of this type of violence is infuriating. Kaylin was a young mother who had her whole life ahead of her,” he said. “This violence and destruction won’t be tolerated in our community. I am confident that our residents will work with us to find the person responsible for Kaylin’s death.”
