Maria Shriver Kennedy’s blue blood is boiling over Trump renaming the Kennedy Center

Maria Shriver is voicing her displeasure with a bill that could potentially rename the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

As former President Kennedy’s niece, Shriver is personally attached to the name. But if Rep. Bob Onder (R-MO) has his way, the building would be rebranded as the ‘Donald J. Trump Center for the Performing Arts.’

Look:

“It makes my blood boil. It’s so ridiculous, so petty, so small-minded,” she said. “Truly, what is this about? It’s always about something.”

“‘Let’s get rid of the Rose Garden. Let’s rename the Kennedy Center,” Shriver continued. “What’s next?”

This is likely a reference to a statement President Donald Trump made in February, indicating he planned to pave a portion of the Rose Garden to replicate he patio from his Mar-a-Lago home in Florida. The Rose Garden was redesigned during the Kennedy administration.

Onder believes the renaming of the center would be appropriate to honor the current president.

“I cannot think of a more ubiquitous symbol of American exceptionalism in the arts, entertainment, and popular culture at large than President Trump,” the representative said. The move comes after the approval of a space named the “First Lady Melania Trump Opera House” within the Kennedy Center. This was suggested as a way to celebrate her “support and commitment to promoting the arts.”
