Marjorie Taylor Greene wants primary challenger for Lindsey Graham over Biden impeachment remark

U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) took a very public jab at Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), calling for him to be primaried for voicing skepticism over impeaching President Biden.

On Sunday at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest conference in Arizona, Greene took direct aim at Graham in response to his appearance on “Meet the Press,” where he told NBC’s Kristen Welker that he hasn’t “really been paying much attention” to the House Republicans investigating the president’s involvement in his son Hunter Biden’s allegedly corrupt business dealings.

“If there were a smoking gun, I think we’d be talking about it,” Graham asserted.

He contended that “the narrative that Hunter Biden presented is falling apart” and he was “not worried about impeaching the president right now.”

That incensed Greene who raged at the moderate Republican while on stage.

“How can Lindsey Graham in Washington, D.C. on Meet the Press say that he hasn’t seen a smoking gun of evidence, that he doesn’t think that we produced enough evidence to impeach Joe Biden? Let me ask the American people, do you think that we have produced enough evidence to impeach Joe Biden?” Greene asked the conservative gathering which loudly answered in the affirmative.

“Well, I think somebody better run for senator in South Carolina,” Greene laughingly commented, in a not-so-subtle call for Graham to be primaried.

Greene and Graham both support former President Trump but that’s about the only thing they share in common.

As the impeachment inquiry moves along, Graham may find himself even more unpopular after his statements on “Meet the Press.”

“The House voted last week to formally authorize its impeachment inquiry into Biden in a 221-212 party-line vote, with Republicans arguing that a formal authorization vote would boost their legal arguments to compel testimony and documents,” The Hill reported.

“The multi-pronged impeachment inquiry includes deep dives into the personal and business finances of Biden family members, as well as heaping scrutiny on a Justice Department probe into his son’s failure to pay taxes,” the outlet added.

“Last week, Hunter Biden — the president’s son whose foreign business activities are at the center of the House GOP’s investigation — defied a subpoena from the House Oversight Committee by refusing to testify in a closed-door deposition rather than publicly, prompting Republicans leading the inquiry to pledge to hold him in contempt of Congress,” The Hill noted.

In September, Graham was booed loudly at a Trump campaign rally in South Carolina.

“I’ll tell you what. When I need help on the left, he’s great. He’s great, and he’s my friend, too. Lindsey Graham, wherever you are. Lindsey?” Trump asked and the crowd responded by booing loudly, voicing their dislike for Graham.

“Oh no, no!” Trump declared. “He helps me on the left. We need help sometimes. Republicans shouldn’t need help on the left, but he helps me.”

It should be noted that Graham is not up for reelection until 2026.
