Marjorie Taylor Greene: ‘White House is outraged at my audacity to demand’ Biden impeachment inquiry

Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene cried foul over attacks from the White House as she re-upped her ultimatum “demanding an impeachment inquiry” of President Joe Biden.

“…the White House is outraged at my audacity to demand it.”

The fiery Republican lawmaker took to X Saturday with a lengthy thread rattling off the litany of policies pushed by the current administration that have resulted in real harm to Americans as she pressed for accountability.

She began, “The White House is attacking me for demanding an impeachment inquiry before I’ll vote to fund one penny to our over bloated $32 TRILLION dollar in debt failing government.”

“We have the evidence they have desperately been trying to hide to just ask the question. Should we inquire? Should we just take a look? Dare we investigate further?” asked Greene rhetorically. “The answer is YES but the White House is outraged at my audacity to demand it.”

Speaking to policies that aide Mexican cartels in human and drug trafficking amid a worsening substance abuse epidemic, prioritizing Ukraine over defense of the southern border and the oft-touted “Bidenomics…responsible for the highest inflation in 40 years,” the congresswoman slammed “The White House is filled with pathetic blind fools led by one corrupt criminal mentally incompetent old man who has been in Washington seats of power longer than I’ve been alive.”

Her railing against Biden’s tenure came just days after she spoke at a town hall meeting in Floyd County, Georgia where she said, “I will not fund those things, and I thought it was most important to tell you all first because I work for you.”

White House deputy press secretary Andrew Bates, who shared a number of stories on Greene’s threat to funding, said in a statement provided to the media, “The last thing the American people deserve is for extreme House members to trigger a government shutdown that hurts our economy, undermines our disaster preparedness, and forces our troops to work without guaranteed pay.”

“The House Republicans responsible for keeping the government open already made a promise to the American public about government funding, and it would be a shame for them to break their word and fail the country because they caved to the hardcore fringe of their party in prioritizing a baseless impeachment stunt over high stakes needs Americans care about deeply — like fighting fentanyl trafficking, protecting our national security, and funding FEMA,” added the spokesperson.

However, the gaslighting from the administration, coupled with the hyperbole over what a government shutdown would mean, had already been readily negated by other members of Congress actually holding to the promises they made to their constituents.

A prime example came from a coalition of 15 Texas Republicans that included Reps. Ronny L. Jackson, Morgan Luttrell and Keith Self led by Chip Roy in using the power of the purse to seek substantive action to secure the border.

“Federal funding expires on September 30,” the letter dated Aug. 10 read, “at which point we will no doubt face consideration of a continuing resolution (CR) or full-year appropriations measures to fund the Biden administration. Enacting a CR would unacceptably mean continuing the funding level and policies of the disastrous FY 2023 omnibus, which Speaker McCarthy correctly argued perpetuates the border crisis. Passing a full-year DHS appropriations bill without forcing the significant change necessary to secure the southern border is equally objectionable, even with some policy riders.”

To that end, the letter concluded “…no member of Congress should agree to fund a federal agency at war with his state and people. We have a moral obligation to protect our states, our nations, and, importantly, the migrant children getting abused from the disaster transpiring at our southern boarder. No border security, no funding.”

As to Greene’s specific demand for an impeachment inquiry, McCarthy was reported as stating to Breitbart News about the action that would provide broader powers to look into Biden’s alleged influence-peddling, “To open an impeachment inquiry is a serious matter, and House Republicans would not take it lightly or use it for political purposes. The American people deserved to be heard on this matter through their elected representatives.”

“That’s why, if we move forward with an impeachment inquiry, it would occur through a vote on the floor of the People’s House and not through a declaration by one person,” he added.

On the matter of criticism from the White House, Greene concluded her thread by writing, “Go ahead and mock me, I could care less, and the American people know the truth. See you soon.”
