Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum believes she knows why Democrats had such a big night on Tuesday.
Despite the party facing an ongoing identity crisis following the 2024 election, Democrats were able to win big in New York City, New Jersey and Virginia. According to MacCallum, Republicans don’t need to rack their brains to explain these victories, as the answers are right in plain view.
Watch:
“This idea of affordability, which just basically means inflation, that prices are too high and that that’s a real sensitivity spot for people, is, I think, something that Republicans do have to look carefully at. It’s obvious that they’re very aware of it,” she said.
“So obviously, before they get to the midterms, Republicans are going to want to work on making sure that that is tangible, that people feel that increase. And I think, you know, ‘the economy, stupid,’ ends up being the simple story of a lot of elections. And that’s clearly one of the lines here.”
Zohran Mamdani, the man who said he aims to tax “richer and whiter neighborhoods,” will serve as the next Mayor of New York City thanks to Tuesday night’s result. Additionally, Jay Jones, who sent derogatory and violent messages about Republican opponents and their children, defeated the incumbent Virginia Attorney General, and Democrat Abigail Spanberger won over Republican Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears.

“We got our asses handed to us,” he said bluntly in a video posted to X. “New Jersey, Virginia, and New York City, Democrats swept all three. There’s two key lessons for Republicans so listen carefully. Number one, our side needs to focus on affordability. Make the American dream affordable. Bring down costs, electric costs, grocery costs, healthcare costs and housing costs. And lay out how we’re gonna do it.”
“And number two, cut out the identity politics,” he continued. “It doesn’t suit Republicans, it’s not for us. That’s the woke left’s game, not ours. We don’t care the color of your skin or your religion; we care about the content of your character. That’s who we are.”
X users reacted:
Houses are $400,000, cars are $40,000 and steak is $20 a pound. The American dream is impossible for middle class families.

The only republican who is talking about why and looking inward… much respect

You are absolutely right. If the right becomes a White Christian ONLY party, we are toast. But most importantly, bring back the American dream or young people will gravitate to Socialism. BUT, to be fair, all three states are blue states.

This is exactly it. Republicans aren’t inspiring anybody with the 24/7 Trump glaze session and identity politics. People can’t afford to have backyard BBQ’s, people aren’t taking their kids to Disneyland… some people aren’t even having kids because life is unaffordable

You are right, but also stop the outsourcing of good wage jobs. No more h1bs and tax the companies moving their IT, call centers and accounting to India and other countries and firing Americans. This is not a dig at you, I hope you win, but this is also important
