State officials are crying “misinformation” after an acknowledged error with hundreds of thousands of mail-in ballots found the president calling on the DOJ to investigate potential cheating.
“…any Republican running in Maryland doesn’t have a chance!”
While the congressional GOP balked on passage of the SAVE America Act despite its overwhelming bipartisan support among voters, stories have continued to crop up challenging the narrative on safe and secure elections. The latest example drew the attention of President Donald Trump after Maryland “got caught” distributing over 500,000 ballots with the wrong party designation and raised further concern by distributing another half a million replacements.
“In Maryland, they sent out 500,000 Illegal Mail In Ballots, and they got caught! So now, they’re going to send out 500,000 more Mail In Ballots, but nobody knows what’s happening with the first 500,000 they sent,” asserted the chief executive in a Truth Social post.
He proceeded to call out re-election-seeking incumbent Maryland Gov. Wes Moore (D) and said, “In addition, many of these Ballots went to Democrats, so any Republican running in Maryland doesn’t have a chance! This was done by the Corrupt Governor of the State, Wes Moore. He allowed this to happen in order to make sure that Democrats win.”

“It never made sense to me that Maryland was considered an automatic Democrat State, but now I see why,” concluded the president. “I’m sure this has gone on for years. I’m going to ask the Attorney General of the United States, and the DOJ to bring an immediate investigation into this situation.”
Monday’s post followed a release issued Friday by the Maryland State Board of Elections (SBE) that acknowledged an error in mail-in ballot distribution that sent some voters ballots for the wrong party ahead of the June 23 gubernatorial primary.
Maryland State Administrator of Elections Jared DeMarinis said in part, “With over 500,000 voters requesting mail-in ballots, we want to eliminate any doubt in its integrity or accuracy. That is why I have arranged the sending of replacement ballots.”
The SBE maintains that local elections offices will be able to identify ballots voided from the registration system in cases where mail-in votes had already been submitted. Otherwise, it asked that voters destroy the original ballot if they received one marked “REPLACEMENT BALLOT.”
On X, DeMarinis contended, “It bears repeating that no fake OR illegal mail-in ballots were distributed. The wording in President Trump’s continued posts about Maryland’s elections creates an environment of misinformation on a voting right. Mail-in voting is not a partisan issue. Mail-in voting is legal.”

As previously reported, Maryland is one of 14 states that allow mail-in ballots received after Election Day to count. The deadline is set for 10 days after Election Day, while other states have different parameters that could be impacted by a Supreme Court ruling in Watson v. Republican National Committee by the end of the current term.
Along with statements from the SBE, Moore’s office responded to Trump’s post, deeming it “false and irresponsible.”
“The State Board of Elections identified a vendor error, disclosed it publicly, and is fixing it to ensure every eligible voter receives a valid ballot and every valid vote is counted,” said the governor’s office in a statement. It was further suggested that information on the matter beyond the SBE could be “social media misinformation designed to undermine confidence in our elections.”
