‘Mask activists’ in NY fight for right to wear face diapers, dragged out by unmasked cops

Prior to the Great Pandemic of 2020, wearing a mask in public was a rarity in America, so much so that the act was looked upon as an oddity.

Now, after many areas of the country — see Democrat-run — mandated masks in response to COVID-19, despite little scientific proof justifying the decision, some Americans are apparently willing to fight to keep their masks on.

Look no further than Nassau County, New York, where chaos reigned as legislators voted along party lines Monday night to pass a bill that makes it illegal to wear a mask in public to hide one’s identity — the law still allows masks for health reasons, as well as religious and celebratory purposes, according to News 12 Long Island.

The “Mask Transparency Act” was approved by all 12 Republican legislators, while seven Democrats abstained. The meeting was marked by “mask activists” trying to force their will on others, resulting in at least one arrest.

The bill is intended to prevent people from hiding behind a mask to commit crimes and acts of violence — law enforcement will have to determine if a mask is being worn for legitimate reasons.

Opponents claim the measure will compromise the safety of residents. They also played the race card, saying “black and brown people” will most certainly be discriminated against.

Interestingly, the bill was reportedly introduced in response to antisemitic incidents that authorities said were often committed by people wearing masks.

Violators face up to a year in jail or a $1,000 fine.

“New York Gov. Kathy Hochul and New York City Mayor Eric Adams previously voiced support for similar bills that looked to ban masks at protests and on the subway,” CBS New York reported.

Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on the social media platform X:
