Pressure is mounting on the Biden administration to do something about the illegal alien/migrant crisis, but all the administration is capable of doing is talking trash.
Indeed, to hear the administration tell it, the fact that illegal aliens are overwhelming New York City, as an example, is all Democrat Mayor Eric Adams’ fault.
“The Department of Homeland Security sent an ‘assessment team’ in August to study the way the city is handling the more than 100,000 migrants who have come through New York in the past year,” according to NBC News.
“The resulting assessment has not been released publicly, but one senior DHS official familiar with the team’s findings [said] the city has ‘no exit strategy’ to see that migrants find their way out of its shelter system,” NBC reported Tuesday.
“It’s not an operationally sound effort,” the official said.
Never mind that NYC would not be in a state of crisis right now had the Biden administration secured the border and stopped thousands of illegals from crossing into the U.S. on any given day.

But it gets worse.
“Another federal official said there are concerns that the migrant issue in New York City could overshadow accomplishments made by the Biden administration on immigration and other issues,” NBC News notes.
What accomplishments exactly? Eliminating successful Trump-era immigration policies? Letting the border be overrun? Making a mockery of U.S. immigration laws?
City officials for their part responded to the administration’s remarkable complaints by slamming them for doing NOTHING to alleviate the crisis.
“As we have said repeatedly, with more than 110,000 asylum-seekers that have come through our care since spring 2022, and hundreds more arriving daily, we cannot continue to work to solve a national crisis that the federal government has refused to take meaningful action on,” Adams’ deputy press secretary, Kayla Mamelak, said.
“We have opened more than 200 emergency shelters, have spent more than $2 billion to date, and expect to spend $5 billion this fiscal year alone without substantial aid from our state and federal partners. New York City has far passed its breaking point, and we continue to call on our federal partners to expedite work authorizations, declare a national state of emergency, create a decompression strategy, and lead on this national issue,” she added.

Adams isn’t the only Democrat at war with the administration. So is Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey, who had to declare a state of emergency several weeks prior because of the illegal alien crisis.
She took a step further this week by deploying Massachusetts National Guard service members to illegal alien shelters across the state.
“Gov. Maura Healey activated up to 250 members to serve more than 40 shelters that do not have contracted service providers. Uniformed troops will support logistics and administrative duties but the exact shelters they are serving will remain secret due to privacy concerns, a Healey spokesperson said,” the Boston Herald reported.
“The Guard activation is one of the few major moves Healey has taken under the state’s more than month-old state of emergency. The Healey spokesperson said the call-up is for up to six months, ‘however this is a rapidly evolving situation that will continue to be assessed,'” according to the Herald.

In addition, Healey has joined the Adams’ administration’s call for the Biden administration to get off its butt and do something, anything.
In a letter addressed to Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, she blamed the crisis on “a confusing tangle of immigration laws, an inability for migrants to obtain work authorization from the federal government, an increase in the number of people coming to Massachusetts, and the lack of an affordable housing supply in our state.”
The “increase in the number of people coming to Massachusetts” is directly attributable to the Biden administration’s refusal to secure the southern U.S. border.
“As the significant influx of new arrivals that has generated a state of emergency for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts shows no sign of abating, I will continue seeking federal partnership on the procurement and deployment of goods and services necessary to ensure a prompt and effective response and ultimately a fiscal recovery,” she added.
