Media DIGS on ‘Freedom Fuel’ stations Trump touted for their LOW prices

Heaven forbid that a company dare sell gasoline to Americans at a lower price than Big Oil.

President Trump has celebrated more then two dozen “Freedom Fuel” gas stations in Pennsylvania and New Jersey for selling fuel at deeply discounted prices, the attention coming as the president pressures the industry to lower their prices.

All of which prompted The Hill to do a deep dive, saying “little is publicly known about the stations or who is running them.” Politico reported “it’s not clear who’s footing the bill” for the cheaper gas, before doing a little digging of its own.

After all, we wouldn’t want consumers to get a little relief at the pumps.

“We can sell it wholesale plus some of our cost and still save consumers about 50 cents per gallon, which is, that’s real savings, and you know once one person does it, then kind of the rest of the market will follow,” company executives told Jarrod Agen, White House executive director of the National Energy Dominance Council, according to FOX Business.

The network cited a White House official to report that Freedom Fuel gas stations “saw fuel volumes increase 51.3% in July at the launch of their discount on July 3. The move forced 320 gas stations within a 40-mile radius to cut gas prices by 10 cents a gallon, according to the official who has seen the company data.”

Which may be the anti-Trump media’s bigger concern, giving that the midterms are not far off.

Here’s more from Politico on who’s behind the effort:

Business records show that Freedom Fuel Network LLC was incorporated in Delaware on June 23, just a week before Trump promoted it on his Truth Social account. The White House declined to name who was behind the network, only disclosing that it is a “private company” and that the administration had no involvement in its formation or in recruiting stations to join.

“There is no entity or person subsidizing the lower gasoline costs,” a White House official, granted anonymity to detail the initiative, said in a statement. “They are simply reducing their margin to make prices at the pump more affordable for drivers in Philadelphia and New Jersey.”

Trump has accused oil companies of illegal price gouging and directed the Department of Justice to investigate why fuel costs are lagging behind falling crude oil prices.

White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers posted on X, “Freedom Fuel Network is a private company that is lowering prices at their gas stations to make filling up more affordable. Leave it to the Trump Deranged Fake News to try to villainize a patriotic company that is doing a GOOD thing for its local community.”

Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on X:
