Megan Rapinoe gets mixed response for trashing US men’s national soccer team slogan

Megan Rapinoe is back in the headlines for her criticism of the United States men’s national soccer team (USMNT) slogan.

The former soccer star is complaining that the slogan, “Never Chase Reality,” has negative implications regarding the team’s abilities headed into the 2026 World Cup. She spoke about the decision on her podcast ‘A Touch More.’

Listen:

“Did you happen to see the slogan of ‘don’t chase,’ what was it? ‘Don’t chase reality.’ ‘Dream past reality?'” Rapinoe asked, joined by her partner Sue Bird and sportscaster Katie Nolan.

“That’s what the team’s slogan is?” Nolan asked.

“Yeah, lemme get it really quick because it was crazy. Okay, the team’s slogan going into the World Cup, this was like their drop. Like the draw happened, the team’s like you know, blah blah blah, and their slogan is ‘Never Chase Reality,'” Rapinoe said.

“What?” Nolan asked, visibly confused.

“I was like ‘Guys, I don’t think it’s saying what you think it’s saying,'” the soccer star chuckled.

“I mean, that’s just ‘dream big,'” Bird quipped.

“Yeah, I’m just kinda like ‘why don’t we just stick with dream big?'” Rapinoe wondered. “To me, it said like, you already think you’re not good, so I didn’t like it.”

“Don’t chase reality or you’re gonna find out that you stink,” Nolan said.
