President Donald J. Trump addressed the nation on Wednesday night, delivering a pre-Christmas update to the American people on his progress in cleaning up Joe Biden’s mess and touting his accomplishments during the first 11 months of his second term.
During the roughly 18-minute primetime address, the president explained that his economic policies have brought the country back from “the brink of ruin” under the previous regime, secured the southern border, tackled rampant inflation, and his work in restoring American strength and prestige across the world.

“11 months ago, I inherited a mess. And I’m fixing it. When I took office, inflation was the worst in 48 years. And some would say that in the history of our country, which caused prices to be higher than ever before, making life unaffordable for millions and millions of Americans. This happened during a Democrat administration, and it’s when we first began hearing the word affordability,” Trump began the speech.
“Our border was open. And because of this, our country was being invaded by an army of 25 million people, many who came from prisons and jails, mental institutions, and insane asylums. They were drug dealers, gang members, and even 11,888 murderers, more than 50 percent of whom killed more than one person. This is what the Biden administration allowed to happen to our country, and it can never be allowed to happen again,” he continued.
“We had men playing in women’s sports, transgender for everybody, crime at record levels with law enforcement, and words such as that just absolutely forbidden. We had the worst trade deals ever made in our country, was laughed at from all over the world. But they’re not laughing anymore. Over the past 11 months, we have brought more positive change to Washington than any administration in American history,” Trump said.
The president went on to inform the American people of his success in bringing foreign investment to America, the reversal of falling wages, the benefits of his historic tariffs, tax cuts, and the slow but steady improvement in the pain being felt by ordinary Americans in the grocery checkout line.
“The price of a Thanksgiving turkey was down 33 percent compared to the Biden administration last year,” Trump said. “The price of eggs is down 82 percent since March, and everything else is falling rapidly. And it’s not done yet. But boy, are we making progress. Nobody can believe what’s going on.”
The leader of the free world also emphasized his work in rebuilding the military and announced a $1,776 holiday “warrior dividend” for service members.

“1,450,000 military service members will receive a special we call Warrior Dividend before Christmas… in honor of our nation’s founding in 1776, we are sending every soldier $1,776,” the White House said in a post to X, sharing that portion of Trump’s speech.
Reactions to Trump’s big speech were mixed, with conservatives like CNN’s Scott Jennings praising the “Salesman In Chief” and urging Republicans to get behind him while Democrats and their minions predictably cried like the big babies that they are.
I’m watching the speech and it’s wild he has no idea what’s going on in the country.
54% of Americans say they won’t be able to pay for health care next year.
25% skipped a meal because they couldn’t afford it.
The economy is good for billionaires. That’s all he cares about.

This guy just doesn’t have any idea what he’s talking about. Tariffs mean higher costs on Arizona families and small businesses. https://t.co/O29UDTCsOU

Donald Trump sounds like total shit during this pointless speech. He’s lying, stumbling over his words, and rambling incoherently. Total disaster.

Well at least @potus didn’t announce we are going to war in Venezuela, no clue what was the purpose of the speech. 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️

What Trump didn’t talk about was the escalating tensions with Venezuela, blowing up Tucker Carlson’s big scoop that the president would use the address to prep the American people for war.
Prior to the speech, the conservative commentator and journalist told podcaster Andrew Napolitano that sources said Trump would announce the war to the nation, albeit with the caveat, “Who knows, by the way, if that’ll actually happen.”
It didn’t.
“When the world looks at us next year, let them see a nation that is loyal to its citizens, faithful to its workers, confident in its identity, certain of its destiny, and the envy of the entire globe. We are respected again like we have never been respected before,” Trump concluded.
