Michael Rapaport vows ‘street fight’ against Mamdani as he doubles down on 2029 NYC mayoral bid

Actor Michael Rapaport plans to run for mayor of New York City, and he is promising a “street fight mentality” in a campaign against current Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

The outspoken actor and comedian called out the socialist mayor as the “greatest bull crapper” during an interview with NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo, confirming he is throwing his hat into the ring for the 2029 race unless “somebody who’s more qualified” decides to run.

“I never thought that I would even consider running for mayor of New York City, and I will do it with the best intentions. And I won’t do it the way any other political person has ever done it,” Rapaport said on “Cuomo.”

“The only way to beat this guy is to make it and take it with a New York City street fight mentality,” Rapaport said.

“There’s no way to outnice him. There’s no way to out-slick him. I think that he’s the greatest bullcrapper in the history of politicians, and that’s saying a lot,” he continued. “But New York City needs to do something. We need to plan right now because 2029 is around the corner, and, yes, I’m running for mayor of New York City. And I will only drop out until I feel like there’s somebody who’s more qualified that could actually beat Zohran the moron.”

Rapaport blasted the mayor as well as New York Gov. Kathy Hochul following anti-Israel protests outside of a NYC synagogue.

“‘Zohran the Moron’ does not think that the state of Israel has the right to exist. We know what his wife thinks. We know the elation she was tweeting on October 7th… unfortunately, we all know how this is going to play out. Unfortunately, somebody is going to wind up getting killed in New York City,” Rapaport told Cuomo.

Cuomo suggested a show of unity would go a long way to ease tensions, telling Rapaport he should consider standing alongside Mamdani to help, rather than announce an upcoming “street fight” style campaign.

“My bark is a lot louder than my bite,” Rapaport replied. “There’s no way to out-finesse this guy, out-smile this guy. It has to be a dogfight. It has to be ugly, and that’s what I will do in my campaign.”

The actor announced his mayoral plans in January, reminding in a video message that he was “born and raised in New York City.”

“Born. Raised. NYC. Nothing’s free. No bulls—. No fake grins,” he wrote. “I’ll own my mistakes, apologize when I screw up, and fight to make this city safe, affordable, and thriving. You got Zoron the Moron now…Mayor Rapaport is coming. How you like them apples?
