Congressional Republicans are furious at House Speaker Mike Johnson for choosing “weak and unserious” members of Congress to work on the Trump Assassination Task Force.
According to reports, Johnson worked with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries in deciding who should serve on the committee.
The good news is that Rep. Bennie Thompson, who was responsible for introducing legislation to strip former President Donald Trump of his Secret Service protection, didn’t make the cut. But plenty of other bad actors unfortunately did:
SCOOP: Republican House Members are RAGING at Speaker Johnson for once again bowing to Democrats on Trump Assassination Task Force, choosing weak and unserious members:
‘No one has experience in counter sniper, motorcade, close protection or advance team operations’
‘Not good’

GOP House Members are texting me: ‘This task force will get fooled by security state double-speak and not be allowed to seek the truth’

Text from Member of Republican Conference:
“Johnson, per usual, folds like a cheap lawn chair”

The Democrats chosen for the task force include Reps. Jason Crow, Lou Correa, Madeleine Dean, Chrissy Houlahan, Glenn Ivey, and Jared Moskowitz.
The Republicans chosen for the task force include Reps. Mike Kelly, Mark Green, Dave Joyce, Laurel Lee, Michael Waltz, Clay Higgins, and Pat Fallon.
Missing from the task force are the two most hardcore congressional Republicans, former Navy SEALs Cory Mills and Eli Crane who were not put on the task force.
This has enraged Republican voters, as evidenced by the flurry of tweets being directed Johnson’s way:
Mr. Speaker, why leave out @RepEliCrane and @CoryMillsFL? They clearly belong in the mix too!

@SpeakerJohnson you said that you wanted to make sure that you had a great team on the Trump shooting task force but then you don’t put @CoryMillsFL and @RepEliCrane who have counter sniper experience?? Make it make sense!!

Listen you spineless snake in the grass, why didn’t you add @RepEliCrane & @CoryMillsFL to the Task Force? You are well aware they have the expertise to expose security failures more than the other members. Perhaps we shd create a committee to investigate who you’re talking to

As usual @SpeakerJohnson YOU continue to disappoint Republicans. The 2 most important members of Congress that shoukd gave been appointed to this weak TASK FORCE are @RepEliCrane ( who was a sniper & has already been to PA) & Cory Mills also Military. Include them!!!!

@CoryMillsFL @RepEliCrane
Should be on this committee.
The fact they’re not means this is going to be as fair and legitimate as the J6 committee.

Crane has also taken note of his absence from the task force.
“It’s very unfortunate but not surprising for anyone familiar with how DC works,” he tweeted Monday, responding to news of the task force’s creation. “I’m not a politician, leadership, or a ‘yes man.'”
Continuing the tweet, he broached the idea of launching his own independent task force investigation.
“I wish the members of @SpeakerJohnson Task Force well, and think it’s time for a parallel independent investigation with subject matter experts (SME) and the whistleblowers who’ve already come forward that myself and @EliCrane_CEO and @bennyjohnson have spoken with,” he wrote.
“I will be speaking with other members, and although I won’t have subpoena powers, I will personally fund whatever is required for additional staff to further investigation and expose the truth,” he added.

Crane and Mills famously visited the site of the attempted assassination of Trump in Pennsylvania and have doubts about the official narrative surrounding shooter Thomas Crooks.
I’m on the roof of the building in Butler, PA where shots were fired in an attempt to assassinate President Trump.
As a former Navy SEAL sniper, it was clear to me that many security measures were dropped making Pres. Trump extremely vulnerable.
Many questions still remain. pic.twitter.com/p2EhBTFg1M
