The Ilhan Omar plot has thickened as it now appears that the Somalia-born congresswoman may not only have committed fraud to obtain her U.S. citizenship but may also have been using a false name.
Fox News Digital has learned that the Minnesota Democrat’s “real name” is not Ilhan Omar, but actually Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, two sources familiar with the federal investigation into the “Squad” member told the conservative news outlet, one of them a member of law enforcement.
If it were to be proven in court that the leftist lawmaker has been living her “entire life under an alias,” every form that she has ever filled out could potentially be “called into question,” according to a former Minnesota federal immigration judge.
BREAKING: Two sources familiar with the criminal investigation into Ilhan Omar confirmed to Fox News Digital that the congresswoman’s “real name” is actually Ilhan Nur Said Elmi.
The implications of this development are difficult to overstate.

“On Wednesday, U.S. District Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro filed a motion seeking to prevent the federal search warrant for the congresswoman’s home from being unsealed, which was requested by several media outlets. The motion says the federal government is not yet finished executing the search warrant, and that it shouldn’t be unsealed yet,” Fox News Digital reported.
“Before the Court are three Applications to unseal ex parte materials and proceedings related to a federal search warrant for the personal residence in the District of Columbia of Congresswoman Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, a/k/a Ilhan Abdullahi Omar…” the motion reads.
When asked why the document referred to “a/k/a Ilhan Abdullahi Omar,” one of the sources told the outlet, “That’s not her real name.”
Disqualifying? President Donald J. Trump thinks so.
.@POTUS: It was just revealed that Ilhan Omar’s name is not Ilhan Omar, the one she used to get elected.
Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, her real name, has openly admitted to FRAUD — and she will not be legally allowed to be a Member of this august body from this point forth! https://t.co/0s6qGnedzr

“Because she used a fake name to be sworn in, I assume she must immediately have to resign from Congress,” the president told the crowd at a rally in Sioux City, Iowa, suggesting that she should be ousted from Congress if she didn’t get elected under her real name.
“So please inform our great Speaker of the House of Representatives… that the Democrat Party has just conceded her seat,” Trump added, referring to Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-La.) who was in attendance at the event.
Trump also called for Omar to resign from Congress in a Thursday post to Truth Social.

“It was just revealed that Ilhan Omar’s name is not Ilhan Omar, the one she used to get elected and sworn into Congress, but rather, it’s an entirely different name, Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, and that her last name is, incredibly, also the exact name of her brother, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, the person they said she married and had children with,” Trump said.
“When asked whether or not she married her brother, she said, ‘Not to my knowledge.’ In other words, she somehow didn’t know? Therefore, because she used a fake name to be sworn in, I assume she must IMMEDIATELY resign from Congress,” he added.
“This is completely false. Ilhan Omar is her real name,” an Omar spokesperson told Fox News.
Nathan Hansen, the former federal immigration judge, explained the potential ramifications if Omar has been using a false name.
“You think of all the types of documents somebody like her might have filled out,” he told Fox News Digital. “There’d be federal student loan and student aid applications, maybe federal housing related applications, maybe public assistance applications, passport applications, passport information and driver’s license information, Real I.D. information [and] voting information.”
He also suggested that the ethically-challenged congresswoman could be subjected to criminal charges.
“Sometimes they might say that that would be a wire fraud charge, they always add that one,” Hansen said. “And that’s pretty broad. But, you know, a lot of these documents are sworn under penalty of perjury.”
“If this is not, like, a real legal name, it’s got some legal backing to it that every type of government form she’s filled out in her entire existence might be called into question,” he added.
The “fake name” controversy comes as Omar is already embroiled in a federal investigation over whether she obtained her citizenship under fraudulent pretenses, which, if proven, could lead to her being denaturalized and sent back to Somalia.
