The latest reminder that the public doesn’t “hate the media enough” came courtesy of the barely there coverage of former President Donald Trump’s brush with death akin to a “mostly peaceful assassination attempt.”
President Joe Biden wasn’t the only one averse to describing Saturday’s tragedy in Butler, Pennsylvania as it was after a suspect killed at least one attendee and wounded two others in the process of firing on the GOP leader. With shamelessness that rivaled referring to fiery riots as “mostly peaceful,” chyrons and headlines watered down what happened — if they even covered it at all.
In one telling post from the Associated Press that included an image of the bloodied Trump being led to safety by U.S. Secret Service agents, the caption read, “BREAKING: Donald Trump has been escorted off the stage by Secret Service during a rally after loud noises ring out in the crowd.”

Meanwhile, a headline from CNN that made the rounds claimed, “Secret Service rushes Trump off stage after he falls at rally.”
The “Unfckinreal” banner riled many, including running-mate contender Florida Sen. Marco Rubio who shared a screenshot of the report and wrote, “Even in a horrifying moment such as this they just can’t help themselves.”

That held true for USA Today as well with a headline shared by the lawmaker that read, “Trump removed from stage by Secret Service after loud noises startle former president, crowd.”
For their part, ABC News acknowledged that there was a shooter and that a rally-goer had been killed, but wouldn’t go so far as to include concrete points where the GOP leader was confirmed as they wrote, “Trump says he was shot at rally in possible assassination attempt…”

If that weren’t bad enough, the same stations that had slobbered over the chance to interrupt coverage to report on the onetime commander-in-chief’s felony conviction were said to have prioritized their regularly scheduled programming as numerous figures detailed their experiences in public.
Posting from a venue in New York City, America’s Frontline Doctors president Dr. Simone Gold shared, “I’m in the middle of Times Square and I just got the news that President Donald Trump has been shot and I am completely shocked. I’ve heard it appears he’s okay, but look behind me.”
“Not a single report on the news about the president being shot,” she expressed as she showed monitors inside as well as the giant screens in the heart of Manhattan holding to their typical displays. “None of them are reporting that the president — presidential candidate for the Republican Party — has been shot. Not a word.”

“If anybody has any doubt about the depth of the censorship and propaganda that we are living in 21st century…2024, have no doubts anymore,” she added as attorney Marina Medvin documented a similar experience outside the nation’s capital.
“We are at a bar right now — DC suburb. It’s almost an hour after Trump was targeted at his rally and rushed off bleeding,” she detailed. “Not a single one of the 6 TVs playing live sports games have interrupted the coverage or mentioned the news. No one here but us knows it [happened]…WTF.”
Medvin followed up Sunday morning with a headline from The New York Times that read, “TRUMP HURT, BUT SAFE, AFTER A SHOOTING,” and remarked as reactions poured in, “One day later and they’re still doing it.”
