Mother of 3 left paralyzed after thief body slams her to the ground to steal ATM withdrawal

The horrifying moment an Asian woman was body-slammed to the ground during a robbery was captured on video and that woman, a mother of three, was left paralyzed as a result of the violence.

In yet another incident in America involving a black man attacking an Asian woman, Nhung Truong, 44, was attacked on February 13 by a black man in his early 20s in what Houston police believe was a jugging incident – where assailants stake out unsuspecting victims, the Daily Mail reported. The robber appears to have watched Truong withdraw money from an ATM and followed her for 23 miles before robbing her.

Truong, who is from Vietnam, was robbed of about $4,300, money that she had been saving up to visit family in her home country — she was on her way to pay for the trip. Among the scattered belongings she dropped was her passport.

The victim is now paralyzed and in a wheelchair, unable to walk or use the bathroom without help, according to the Daily Mail.

“It’s not a big loss of the money,” daughter Linh Duong said. “The big loss is her leg.”

A single mother, Truong now relies on her children, who are 13, 15, and 20, for help.

“I’m feeling very horrible and sad at the same time,” she said. “They don’t know when my leg can walk again.”

A GoFundMe account was set up by Truong’s daughter and has received over $60,000 as of this writing. Linh Thuy Duong explains in the campaign description that her mother remains in the hospital a month later, but may be released this week.

“As you may know, we have been struggling to raise funds to cover the costs of her treatment and recovery,” she wrote. “Unfortunately, we have received devastating news that her recovery time has been extended to over two years or even more, the doctor informed us that her time of recovering is unpredictable. This means that my mom is unable to work, our family must provide around-the-clock care for her.”
