Motorcyclist in Florida seen on dashcam flipping cop off, before getting leveled by truck

A Florida motorcyclist learned the meaning of “instant karma” after dashcam footage captured the harrowing moments seconds after he flipped off deputies while blowing through a red light.

Joshua Richardson was one of a number of motorcyclists tooling along Old Dixie Highway in Volusia County, Florida late Friday when their reckless riding, which included “popping wheelies,” caught the attention of the local sheriffs. As the Volusia Sheriff’s Office detailed in a Facebook post that included dash- and bodycam footage, an attempted traffic stop turned into a high speed chase they captioned, “Here’s a good way to get yourself killed.”

“Upon approaching North Beach Street and West Granada Boulevard, the group ignored a red light and continued fleeing from deputies. One of them,” the sheriff’s office wrote, “took the opportunity to look back and flip off the deputies behind him, after which he entered the intersection directly into the path of an oncoming truck.”

Warning: Language

Evidently the expression “no honor among thieves” also applied to delinquent motorcycle gangs as no sooner had Richardson been struck as the lead rider ignoring law enforcement and the red light, were his fellow riders seen continuing through the same intersection and ignoring their downed comrade as well.

The Volusia Sheriff’s Office post went on to explain that “Richardson survived the crash and ran away from the scene but was quickly apprehended by deputies in the area.”

Bodycam footage showed as deputies caught the fleeing motorcyclist who, and one of them pointed out how Richardson’s reckless driving made him an “idiot,” the young man responded “I know” as he politely answered a command to stay on his belly.

Moments after he had been running from them, he began to complain of an injury to his leg which resulted in the rhetorical explanation, “You know how your leg doesn’t get hurt? You don’t run from the cops and crash your bike.”

“That’s how it doesn’t hurt,” he added, earning a fist bump from another deputy.

“Do you think this is funny?” the cuffed Richardson could be heard asking.

“No, I don’t think it’s funny,” one of the deputies could be heard saying in response. “I think it’s incredibly stupid.”

“We’re being chased by 12 cops in the middle of nowhere. What am I supposed to do?” the motorcyclist argued weakly.

Answering the question with the word ‘duh’ laced in his tone, a deputy explained “Stop and figure out why we’re chasing you.”

In addition to traffic citations for failing to stop at a red light and passing in a no passing zone, Richardson was “charged with fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement, resisting without violence and leaving the scene of a crash.”

He was taken to a hospital to be treated for his injuries after the arrest. However, no word was given as to whether or not the other riders may have been apprehended.
