Democrats are still fuming over Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) voting to avert a government shutdown and one MSNBC host declared she’s leaving the party because she is so “pissed.”
MSNBC host Symone Sanders Townsend blasted Democrats in a meltdown with fellow panelists on “The Weekend” after co-host Michael Steele asked about how Republicans were able to “punk” Schumer into agreeing with a procedural vote that led to the passing of the stopgap spending bill.
“What are Republicans thinking right now about their ability to absolutely punk Schumer into making this move the way he did when he knew that that’s not where his party was?” Steele, former chair of the Republican National Committee, asked.

Former Democratic lawmaker Donna Edwards said, “There was no message, no strategy, and, at the end of the day, no leadership. And this is really a black mark, I think, on Chuck Schumer.”
“You cannot signal on Wednesday that you want to fight, and then on Thursday, you cave. And so now Republicans know that all they have to do is play Democrats, and it will work,” Edwards, now an MSNBC analyst, said.
“I’m pissed,” Townsend chimed in. “There’s actually little that the Senate Minority Leader can say, and the 10 Democrats that voted with the Republicans can say, to appease somebody like me.”
“I’m going to change my registration to Independent,” declared the Democrat strategist and former advisor to then-Vice President Kamala Harris.
“There’s not another option for Senate Democrats or House Democrats to effectively push back. This was it. They blew it. The Democratic Tea Party was born the same day that Chuck Schumer took to that podium to read that very well-crafted statement that told us he folded like a paper napkin,” Townsend continued.
Later, when MSNBC’s Alicia Menendez noted that some Democrats have been suggesting Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) should primary Schumer, Townsend shrugged it off.
“Anyone can primary him,” she said matter-of-factly. “Anyone.”
The MSNBC meltdown provided some laughter for the set of Fox News’ “The Big Weekend Show.”

“Nobody is watching Symone Sanders anymore when she speaks,” radio talk show host and Fox News contributor David Webb said, adding, “Let them self-destruct and go further left.”
