MSNBC proudly hangs on convicted liar Michael Cohen spewing claims Trump kept classified docs as ‘extortion’ insurance

Thanks to repeated reports citing anonymous sources and a complicit, salivating media that have confused guessing and hearsay with actual journalism, wild speculation over the possible reasons former President Donald Trump may have had classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate is now encouraged.

And nowhere is this parlor game more prominent than on MSNBC’s “The ReidOut” with proudly-biased Joy Reid, where the latest theory being circulated is that Trump stole the nuclear secrets of an unnamed country so he could extort himself out of any legal difficulties.

Former Trump attorney-turned-disbarred disgrace Michael Cohen joined Reid on Wednesday to discuss a Washington Post report that claimed, “A document describing a foreign government’s military defenses, including its nuclear capabilities, was found by FBI agents who searched former president Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence and private club last month, according to people familiar with the matter.”

“Some of the seized documents detail top-secret U.S. operations so closely guarded that many senior national security officials are kept in the dark about them,” WaPo writes. “Only the president, some members of his Cabinet or a near-Cabinet-level official could authorize other government officials to know details of these special-access programs, according to people familiar with the search, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe sensitive details of an ongoing investigation.”

Reid began her segment with Cohen admitting that all of what was to follow would be nothing more than speculation.

“Michael, I don’t know him,” Reid said of Trump. “Never personally met him, and you’ve dealt with him for a very long time. I’m asking to you speculate, and I’m acknowledging that I’m asking you to do that. Why would he want to have the nuclear secrets of some other country out there, our enemy? Why would he want to have classified information? Why would he take the contents of classified folders out and put them God knows where? Why do you think he wanted this stuff?”

And with the hangar door for flights of fancy thrown wide open, Cohen wasted no time coming up with the most James Bond-ish scenario he could think of.

“So this is all about power for Donald Trump,” he stated. “This is all about him still remaining relevant and exerting the power over the United States as extortion in the event you indict me or members of my family — though he doesn’t particularly care much about them — if you indict me and try to incarcerate, I have nuclear secrets that I have instructed some of my followers to turn over to our adversaries.”

“That’s what I believe,” he announced, as Reid lapped it up. “It’s all about him maintaining power, but not just over this country, but over foreign countries as well.”

“The dangerous part that we’re all doing right now is creating these hypotheticals,” he continued before creating more hypotheticals.

“Is the nuclear secrets Israel and maybe he’s given them to Mohammed bin Salman and that’s why they gave Jarred Kushner $2.5 billion. That’s why we have the Presidential Records Act. That’s why we have laws so that we’re not supposed to come up with these hypotheticals. We’re supposed to know that the documents are in the possession of individuals who are supposed to have them in secure locations, not somewhere in his office at Mar-a-Lago, where they have a thousand members running around,” he said. “You had Chinese individuals that were there in 2019 that weren’t supposed to be there with thumb drives. It’s not supposed to be happening.”

Rather than ask for a single shred of evidence to support his theory, Reid nodded like the talking bobblehead she is and said, “Yeah.”

“Everything Donald is doing designed to disrupt,” Cohen stated with zero pushback.

Online, at least, the story is being received with the credibility it deserves.

“It’s time for our favorite segment: throw sh**te at the wall and see what sticks,” wrote one user on Twitter, “first up convicted liar Michael Cohen…”

“I love how everyone is commenting on something they have not seen and it’s all hearsay,” tweeted another.

A third didn’t bother mincing words: “What a bunch of idiots.”
